I used to walk around the block at lunch when I worked in the office (residential and city streets). I would look at people driving and I swear to you: 1 in 4 (25%!) were doing stuff in their phones, heads down.

No phone call is worth it. It's lucky it was just vehicle damage. In the UK, if someone was injured and they find out you were on your phone, it's a mandatory 1 year prison sentence. I used to live in Cambridge. There was an 18 yo girl who hit a cyclist and killed him The police checked the phone records and found out she was on the phone.

The judge opened the court with something like, "were not here to find out if you're guilty or not, we're here to find out how many years you're going to prison"

    No call is worth it.

Same here I'm a runner and see it everyday in a state with a hands free law. Laws don't matter when there not enforced.

I've lived in the UK, Greece, Spain, and Germany. The driving may appear worse especially in rural areas but it's not the same. Driving is taken way more serious than in the US. Look at how many cup holders there are. My Tacoma has 7 in the front. European cars have zero.

They also have a fraction of the deaths.

I just got back from the DMV dropping off the accident report. There was a guy Infront of me that had moved here from California and didn't have a license. He was too late to test for an Oregon license. He Got back into his car and drove off. I don't understand these irresponsible people.

I'm sure she was on her phone. She said her brakes didn't work. I don't buy it... Either did the officer.

Doesn't matter if they worked or not. Still her fault if the vehicle was defective. Then again, no license, no insurance, she probably doesn't give a sh*t.

Is it just me or does there seem to be a crazy rash of Tacomas getting rearended of late. I mean, yeah, if you're driving something small with massive brakes, a 911 perhaps, I can see how you could stop short and have the driver behind you unable to avoid hitting you, but geez, it isn't exactly as if a Tacoma is A) hard to see, and B) a pavement rumpler when stopping hard.

Exact same thing happened to me back in June. Chick had no insurance and they found out that she was excluded on the car’s insurance, which is a double whammy. Mine was totaled due to bent frame. I’m pretty sure the chick was an illegal too, no license or any type of ID

give people the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he didn't know he would be too late. If he just moved there, he probably doesn't have anyone else to drive him around and didn't have a choice but to drive his car home.

Yeah until they total your truck, and then what? Still want to give him the benefit of the doubt?

Lighten up, Francis. Anyone can miss a deadline. You don't know the circumstances that lead to it.

These “trucks” are just plain soft, wet noodles for frames, single-ply bumpers…. pathetic.

It’s also why people walk away from some horrendous wrecks. I’d rather they bend than transfer the energy to me.
