Hey has anyone in Cali had their truck smogged with hptuners still installed? I’m pretty sure if I have to go back to the trd tune I will have to swap my trd injectors back in which I am not looking forward to. I just wasn’t sure if the state is checking checksums on our tunes yet or if it’s just calibration id?

 

I had no issue last time I had no visual but comp side no issues

 

I've had quite a few guys without issue on HPT. MANY more have also passed with VFT.

 

I have to get a smog again this year so will see again if anything has changed but I don’t expect issues ​

 

Fingers crossed. I just gotta pass visually then which shouldn’t be a problem unless they have a really sharp eye. Fingers crossed. Thank you guys

Just passed smog check last week. I ask the shop about calibration ID and he said that's a non issue (and not instituted yet it seems) in my area in CA. What he did point out is that the state may be having the technicians biometrically sign off the smog in the near future. Maybe it'll scare techs due to accountability but there's plenty of single person operators that run a smog shop. Just seems like another cash grab TBH so they can charge another verification tax.

Most FT mechanics I’ve seen all have finger tips so dirty or messed up it wouldn’t even matter. So until they start using retinal scanners I wouldn’t care.
