Anyone else been catching the Orionid meteor shower? Quite the show here in the clear northeast skies.

    Morning.
Don’t know if I mentioned this.
This is what came across my phone yesterday.

    0F430903-3EDB-4D1E-9989-153EE6F2E444.jpg

Teaching is something I could consider however, Carol’s new insurance is based on our total income.
If I get a part time, our insurance for her will skyrocket. So can’t do anything like this until June.
They have asked me to come back numerous times.
Can’t hire quality people and comeback ratio is through the roof. So I think I’d be a baby sitter.
Another place contacted me a few months ago. Problem is, they offering big bucks for me.
So I have to pass until next year.

Nice having that being a situation! But great you may have options for part time. To me, that would be ideal while collecting Social Security.
But, of course you need to do the math - considering the income limits if you take Social Security early.

Good Friday morning. It's been in the 30s in the morning around here lately. I must say, the Tacoma's heater seems very good. Before acquiring my Tacoma in May, I did a lot of research.

A few comments mentioned a somewhat insufficient HVAC system. I don't see that to be the case at all. Like many others I did need to have the air conditioning system serviced which involved a new compressor, but once that was working again it was quite cold.

You can bet he was tough as nails.

Nice situation to have. Have a great weekend Mike.

Finally finished the backyard project for the Summer/Fall. Next phase is a birdbath/water fountain and landscaping the area. Pics below. Tacoma is getting deep cleaned today. The last two months the Tacoma has really earned it's keep.

Gotta wonder what they'd say if you mentioned that to those wanting your expertise. Maybe they'd come up with the funds to pay the added insurance costs?

Assuming you'd really want to teach. That's some real affirmation there, Mike. Gud-on ya...

Good morning all. Just catching up on TW. Supposed to be heading to Bear Lake to stay at my daughters in-laws new cabin. Might just be a couple of days entertaining the grand kids with snow/rain and low 30's. With the cost of gas I think we'll take the wife's CRV. It's AWD and does pretty well on slick roads.

I think I'm ready for winter. I've got the furnace all cleaned out and working. The A/C is put to bed for the winter. Pansies and tulip bulbs are planted. Perennials all cut down and mulched. Firewood is split and stacked in the garage. New paddles and rebuilt carburetor on the snowblower (if it's needed at all the way things have been going lately). Lawn has been aerated. I'll be mowing a few more times but mostly as a leaf vacuum.

Been doing some side-hustle work since retiring a couple of months ago. Lot's of electrical, plumbing, and light finishing work. It's good for some play money. I hit the golf course yesterday. For a retirement gift, my work all pitched in and bought me a Gamin z82 rangefinder. It's way more complicated and overkill than I need on the course. I usually just look at the 150 stakes and the distance plates in the fairway but I think I could get used to this thing. I'd never spend that kind of money if it wasn't given to me.

Have a good day and safe weekend all.

Well, success! Rex and I recycled our cardboard, and then went to the wash. The spattering soap had him interested, but that big blue brush really got his attention!

You can stt the Guage set on my head unit. Stayed solid with AC on, driving or parked. Took him home and ran another errand, then took a nap! I think I'm finally destressing!

Although I don’t drink, I’ll join in and get this show on the road. There’s NCAA football teams that need to lose this weekend.

    Happy Saturday to all.

I'm fairly caught up on fall yard work and power equipment maintenance so hoping to catch some college football later today.

Super excited for Sunday. Anyone familiar with Wayne Carini and his show Chasing Classic Cars? He's been gracious enough to invite our local group of Porsche Club of America to his farm tomorrow for a private autism fund raiser. We'll have the opportunity to view his personal collection and a meet and greet. He's a very personable guy. I've run into him at the occasional cars and coffee. We were leaving a Capitol Grill once on a Saturday night and he was waiting for the valet to bring his car as were we. Asked him if I should wait to see what he was driving. "Not tonight, should I?" "No, nothing you haven't seen plenty of"

Is the Head Unit stock on your Tacoma? I like the display.

Good morning, Saturday. I have a little garage work to do but nothing major. Going over to my Neice's for an open house later on today.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/winter preppers. Pardon me while I rant about the near impossibility of finding decent help these days.

We waited 8 months for a whole house generator to arrive. I get it, supply chain pandemic shipping containers yada yada. When it finally arrives our usually excellent electrician left stuff broken and unconnected when they connected it. Not the main guy, one of his newer hires I would guess because I hadn't seen him before. Now we wait for the propane folks, who promised us dates last week but won't actually show up until next Friday at which time they'll charge us a body part for what is really a very simple job. Also we had our septic system pumped out and a small repair performed, also costing a body part and also only happening after suffering several scheduling SNAFUs. We've been on the phone with all of these vendors at least a dozen times trying to get them to show up when they said they would and do the work they contracted to do. It's frustrating. And the trash people -- how can they not pick up the trash? How hard is that? For all of this horrible customer service we get to pay substantially more than we paid just a year or two ago. Yay. I'm pretty handy and do the majority of our home maintenance myself, otherwise I think I'd be selling the whole schmeer and moving into a yurt in the woods somewhere.

Okay rant over. I usually feel better afterwards but this time not so much. I don't think we've seen the end of this trend.

    Go Phils!

My brother was invited to be on Jay Leno's Garage. They had a meeting after one of his shows, Leno seemed tired, and nothing ever came of it.
