Got the tracking. Perfect timing since I got to do my 120K spark plug change, throttle body and maf cleaning. Will do thermostat and housing at the same time. Coolant was changed at 100K but may reuse.

Mod list... Well, my paint is factory.
I put mine on this weekend. Took about 20min because I was taking my time.
Extension and universal swivel helps to get to the back bolt.
You'll lose about a quart of coolant.
I put a light coat of Permatex 22071 Water Pump and Thermostat sealant on the gasket for good measure

    Extension with universal:
    upload_2022-10-24_8-4-40.jpg

Pull the thermostat/hose under the oil filter lines, towards the battery to get to the squeeze clamp easier:
    upload_2022-10-24_8-5-13.jpg

I used these long angled needle nose to get the clamp off and back on. The factory housing needed a bit of persuasion to release from the hose but it wasn't too bad.

    Factory vs UCM
    upload_2022-10-24_8-5-57.jpg

Make sure to remove the factory rubber gasket from the inlet. then clean the surface from any dirt/grime.
    upload_2022-10-24_8-6-20.jpg

Factory torque spec is 80 in. *lbf that's INCH not FOOT, or 9.0 N*m

Awesome. So you didn’t drain the radiator?

No need to completely drain the system! Especially if you leave the radiator cap on, it creates a vacuum on the system and does not allow the coolant to flow out freely. When replacing thermostat very little coolant is actually lost!

No, our (2nd Gen) housing is pretty high up so you don't "need" to drain it to change the thermostat housing. My fluid still tests as good with test strips so I decided not to drain.

Will we need to get a gasket to install the new housing?
