I got quoted ~48k OTD for a 2023 black TRD off road in 6 speed manual. I got the advanced tech pack, blackout package and LED lights. It also comes with the TRD suspension lift and matching TRD pro grill on it. Also added was 17” trd pro wheels and KO2 tires. All this OTD 48k (no market adjustment added). Is this a solid deal?

    edit:
I asked for the additional add ons (wheels, rims, grille and lift) plus the dealership doing the work keeps the factory warranty so I don’t lose anything and also don’t have to wait until my warranty expires. So I can just pay for it now and keep the warranty is my thought process.

    Oh look, another mod....
That price is a decent deal, considering the current market (most dealers still try to ask for markup, then there's inflation). You're getting a lot of truck.

With the options and add-ons they put on that truck (the wheel & tire package alone are $2000) I would say make the deal.

There's a magnetic gray offroad stick shift 4wd with tech pack and led lights for 39 at my local toyota dealer. So I guess it depends on whether or not you think the TRD lift, grill, wheels and k02 tires are worth 9k dollars.

Doesn't sound like a very good deal to me.
However, I just got a quote on a TRD Pro for just over $60k otd.
Dealer here is trying to screw me harder than yours is.

Just the listed price, here in Arizona taxes and fees are high probably 44 out the door. I would wait until next year to buy a truck the market is too inflated right now. My business is construction/real estate and things are already slowing down so I really think next year it will go SPLAT and you'll have a lot better car deals to choose from.

The lift, pro wheels, and ko2s are what’s getting you. I paid about 500 below msrp for the same truck, which was like 38,600. OTD was close to 40. Guess the question is if the lift, tires, and wheels are worth the extra money to you, or being able to finance or those extras.

I think 38-42k is more fair. Granted you're getting some added accessories which can be added for cheaper after, but that's up to you. I like buying the lower or lowest trim and modifying as I see fit, dealer add ons will always trash you

While I 100% agree with you, it seems that "fair" has very little to do with it these days. It's all about how far the dealership can bend you over without buying you dinner first. It will take things turning around - inventory levels increasing, rising interest rates, recession fears - before dealers realize their vehicles aren't flying off the delivery trucks and they are stuck with overpriced inventory that takes weeks and price reductions to move. My personal opinion (which is worth nothing of course :)) is that will happen sooner rather than later.

The advanced tech package is your biggest add on. When I looked that alone was around 3k extra.
By allocation, I got the $700 tech package which I did not want but is worth the $. Try to figure out how to get the LED headlights.

Nobody can truly tell you if you're getting a good deal unless you itemize the quote. We have no idea what you're paying in taxes and fees, which are for the most part not negotiable. OTD in a high tax state is going to vary wildly from OTD in a no tax state.

What is the MSRP of the truck? What are the add-ons and what are they charging for them?

my initial thought is $48K seems high even with the add-ons, and i would guess closer to mid 40's OTD. but as mentioned above, we don't know MSRP or taxes.

it's hard for me to get my head around paying nearly $50K for a tacoma. i know i know, the market is what it is.

On the Toyota build page, I used the OP's info. Here's the MSRP, Package, and Accessory prices that are listed on the website.

    upload_2022-10-23_7-56-59.jpg

The grille, wheels, tires, and labor for the install of these items and the lift would need to be added as well. Then add taxes and fees.

So, just for ease, lets say the wheels, tires, grille, and labor is $2000. That puts it to $44,000 ish. No idea where this purchase is happening, but let's say 8% ($3520)for taxes and you're at $47,520. It's not a stretch to think the items and labor could break the two grand or that fees and such couldn't make up the difference and put it at $48,000 pretty easily.

So, @brophetus it looks like you are paying MSRP at best. Whether or not that's a good deal is entirely up to you. If you pay $48K will you be happy? If you will, then it's a good deal. If you'll feel like you got cheated, then it's not a good deal. All relative.

My TRD OR was $45k OTD without add ons. Just under $43k msrp before taxes. So it’s probably close to a wash. Just depends if you want to pay the dealer for some of the hassle.

Off topic question are you keeping your old wheels or are they giving you credit? You are “buying” them after all.

Factory layoffs, I mean supply chain restraints is what next year will look like. Everything else you said is correct rate increase, vehicles sitting on lots not moving. Before dealers start slashing prices because of overstock the manufactures will shut down for a few weeks, or more. Dealers have plenty of room to store vehicles and people will still be in the market for news vehicles. Hurricane Ian totaled thousands of vehicles, and people will be replacing them with new ones.

    I like your evaluation.

My 2021 Sport was $35K out-the-door and I was happy with that number.

I had a trade-in + put some cash to get to that number that included Premium Warranty.

Getting the top-of-the-line Tacoma was not on my mind.

    Its okay. Not great. Solid...hardly.
You need to break it down and itemize as stated above to figure out if its worth it to you.
Looks to me like its being sold at MSRP plus the add ons which are going to have high dealer labor costs.
