I've got a pair of heavy duty dakkar leaf springs taking up space. Let me know if you want them

I don't see myself needing them any time soon but I will definitely keep that in mind!

Really.. I wouldn’t worry about it until you feel they aren’t doing their job. Theirs so many variables it’s impossible to really know.

I’m sure people argue shock rebuilds about like oil changes

They seem to be holding up fine, for now. I just don't want to wind up in a scramble to buy something. I think I'll try to at least get the rears before next summer, as they're probably getting a lot more stressed than the fronts.

I'm torn about whether to go with something rebuildable or not. With the amount of driving I do, I might have to rebuild them annually. This doesn't seem like a big deal for the rears, but might suck with the fronts.

    So. Many. Stickers.
Unless you're driving 50,000 mi a year off-road you probably won't have to rebuild your suspension anywhere near that often. I also put a crapload of miles in my vehicles and even the shocks I took off still head life to them. I was just upgrading for shenanigans

Somehow I got the impression that they needed to be rebuilt more often than that.

When I Google it, it states that Fox recommends every 50K for street use only, and as often as every 10K for mixed use.

What's the longest you've gone on a set without a rebuild?

    Prelude:
Yesterday I decided at lunch to go camp somewhere in the Penokee's since wife and daughter were going to mother-in-laws for the weekend. Got home, putzed around ate dinner and departed about 6:00 for some dirt and a yet to be determined camping site. Just me and the dog. Off Old Grade Road, right before the Old Swedish Settlement I turned in on FR 202B. It was getting dark and by the time we wandered in a ways, it was dark. Found the end of the road and a small clearcut-perfect, could see the stars and it was level.

Small fire, sip of whiskey and off to bed. morning arrived for me about 7 ish. Nice view, and a well chosen spot for driving around in the dark! A bit of breakfast and off to conquer a dragon!

Explored some new territory today, love going places I've never been to. The suspension did wonderful. Still found the bump stops in the rear, but much better than before.

    Warning: Long Post w/pictures

So, this summer I started looking into places to take the TW Wisconsin crew for the Applefest weekend. One road that showed promise, because
it was a loop on the map, thwarted my attempts twice to get more than about a half mile in. Today I went after that road with the intent of actually getting to the top... and as a bonus there is a fire tower symbol shown on the map at the top and you know how I get excited by fire towers! Left camp (see post above) around 8:30 and did some exploring on my way to my trail. Beautiful time of year in the Penokee's!

    Start.jpg

Having been up the road twice before I figured I would be stuck by 10am... but I was well and truly buried by 9:27! The road is washed out and has epically deep ruts. Some over four feet! Spent some time with the shovel trying to knock down the lip at my exit and fill in some of the holes with rocks so the tires had a chance.

    Oh My!.jpg

    Stuck.jpg

    Stuck 2.jpg

Kept at this for half an hour, but eventually had the truck with the left front tire six inches in the air and the right rear at max extension. My work was for naught. My helper was clearly worried! I broke the winch out. Unfortunately, I did not respool this after Tigerton, and it was all balled up because of a 4Runner pull out-my bad. Couldn't unspool it, so luckily I was able to back enough to get it loose and pull it out by hand and do the respool in the woods. Ahrgggg, why make things so complicated??? Two pulls with a reset in between and out she came...

Unfortunately the road did not improve much, and it was a tough go all the way up. Sliders even got a workout as well. That said I was able to get about a half mile up before I had to get the chain saw out and clear the road. This was about 50 yards from the Y where the loop road heads down. Progress!

    somemore.jpg

Scratchy scratchy to the top (even by my standards!). Lots of rock and a final two truck lengths that were every bit worthy of Tigerton to the top. I show the down images here, but that rock is not as grippy as some and covered in moss such that it is slick as ice! I nearly fell on my butt twice on my survey hike.

    Yikes!.jpg

I finally made it to the top! The road to make the loop going back down was amazing! I have, after years of looking found my "Tigerton" in the Penokee's. This was a mess-rock gardens, logs, rock springs/creek crossings, steep downs and insane scratchy trees. This trail was tough. I spent half an hour working my way down maybe a3/4 of a mile. Decided the day wasn't going to be long enough to make it all the way, so I turned around and headed back up. Trail was easy to see going down. Not so going up. I got off trail and soon realized I was doing a free form cross country route. Uh oh... might be in trouble here. walked back and found my mistake-needed to make a left at the big rock; I went right. In the process of getting back to the "trail" and headed the right way I got tangled in a couple of trees. Goodness. What a mess. Took some fiddling and fussing to get back and on track.

    rock garden.jpg

Eventually got to the intersection and headed back down the way I came up. Figured I would be good getting down and not need to winch anywhere. Unfortunately, I was very wrong. A section I drove up tripped me up and forced a side pull to get me out. I was in deep here. I was getting tired and even the pup was beat by this point.

    Winch round two.jpg

    messy messy.jpg

Lower section that I winched up was a breeze going out-thank goodness. Tree damage is not insignificant; however, the good news is that I did not break a light or taillight fixture! Even bent the 3/16 plate of the side on my new rear bumper and dented the bed side. Glad I didn't try and take you guys up this mess! Had a f'in blast though! Taco tough for sure.
