Note to pushbutton 4WD/2-4 & MT transfer case owners: While the bearings and seals are most likely the same -there is a difference with ADD MT cases. See page 20 of the PDF, TF-31 (1. for A.D.D. Manual Shift Type).

Here is what I put together on teardown/assembly when I did this t-case, pdf attached.
Instead of gear oil, I'd use this to coat the parts when assembly (where stated in the pdf)
    https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0095FB03C

EDIT: I'm lagging on looking up the part numbers for the case. I've highlighted the ones I replaced. I'm using partsouq as a reference to grab the numbers. When I complete the lookup later, I'll edit with the info. See attached. @El Taco Diablo, added additional info. Will update later.

I don't understand this caveat. I have a plain ole j-shift case and ADD. I thought every MT was like that, once they intro-ed ADD... Am I missing something?

So the ADD case/2-4 (however you want to label it) and the MT is going to have that synchro ring and the shift keys. Because those are missing, I wanted to add that little blurb. The seals and bearings are going to be exactly the same. Its literally the same case. At least that's what I've taken away from my time spent inside and outside of that case as well as pouring over all the docs I can find on the subject. I would love to have a 2-4/push button 4wd as well as a manual (MT) case to poke around and rip apart. Don't have it though so unless someone wants to donate ;)

    Edited and reworded a bit

    Rotated the tires
    Pulled the skids
    Losened the steering rack
Got most of the bushings out of the rack

    Will continue tomorrow

    Need to:
    -Replace the rack bushings
    -Replace the CV axle seals
-See if I can figure out what the hell keeps smoking my manual hubs
-Fabricate better mounting points for the IFS skid

If I get that done tomorrow things will be peaches

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
would be nice if that was combine with the option to run 05-06 tundra spindles for the increased size LBJ bolts. at that point if i was worried about LBJ failure, once a year uniball replacement isnt that bad..

assuming i can just order FK uniballs like i do my uppers for 60-70 a pop.

At 715k the front hub bearing decided to let my know they were done.
Had new bearing, seals and hubs replaced and put new calibers on.
That constant wheel vibration at 60-70mph is finally gone and with the new calibers and paint she stops on a dime again, super easy to lock up the tires if I want.

Also, for whatever reason I simply could not get the starter out through the wheel well (and yes, I did unbolt the brake line bracket as well as unclip it above the coil portion in the engine bay).

Ended up taking it out over the steering rack near the CAT. Much easier actually.

That's how I've always done it too, zero luck going over the frame rail unless it's a manual truck.

Not looking forward to getting it back in there

I wonder if I could bolt it up to the transmission and then install the trans. (?)

Just thought about that and no bueno.

Getting ready for winter. Those 360 nozzles are pretty sweet for being a cheapo.

For whatever reason, its not the same as the 4Runner. The brake line has only 1 bracket bolted to the engine bay side of the frame. It doesn't have the play even after unclipping it from above.

Instead of dicking around I dropped it down and had it out relatively easy as I described above.

I know immediately to the wheel it isn't cause the 4R uses a hardline all the way through.

I ask cause I used a Tacoma walk-through to help me fish out the 4R starter.

Tacoma was a 4x4 Auto which is the most difficult to remove. Manual is easier, and Prerunner being the easiest.

Good to know you got it out the front. People often looking for work on their trucks on FB and I helped one with a leaf pack swap that got me a hundred bucks already.
