He admitted to me he purposely makes things up to troll this thread. He makes things up and obviously has no life. I ignored him months ago.

I think he was showing me how to use the ignore feature but not that I was ignore worthy. I’ll never know…

Using a public charger does not look like a good time vs charging at home. Kind of like using a public phone or a public toilet, they're covered in germs and often out of order.

The same or more than my Tacomas but with a longer time spent replenishing that range.

So far the R1T is pretty cool. Only issue at pickup was the usual confusion about how I’m buying a vehicle and registering it back home in Alaska but using my out of Alaska address for it. Only did 85 miles driving home and doing some errands but it’s been uneventful like usual when driving a brand new car.

Congrats bro! Are you military? Wondering why Alaska is in the mix.

Yep, military. Alaska residency is great, no income tax and no vehicle sales tax saves a ton of money. It has saved me about $20k in Colorado sales tax and registration fees over the last few years.

Nice that you don’t need to go to Alaska for any emissions testing for future registrations as well.

hands down using public chargers is vastly better than visiting a gas station when it comes to being harassed by transients coming down off a bender, panhandlers etc. Not once has a charging station been rigged to skim my card info, can’t say the same about gas station pumps or registers. Unless you’re sanitizing that pump handle prior to use, do you think it’s any better or worse than a charging station handle when it comes to germs? Out of order, well sure it happens to both so that’s pretty moot. At least charging stations are connected to the web so typically you know if it’s operational or not before you waste time going to it. And bonus points for not having to put out my cigar to use a charging station. Although yesterday I watched an AMPM attendant light up a cigarette within 10 feet of a pump, so I guess it only matters if you care about common sense & federal law.

Comparing a charging station experience to home charging is just foolish. If you had the ability to refuel your vehicle at home then of course you’d also prefer it. To think that gas stations are some superior sterile environment is just hilarious…. But considering the source not at all surprising.

Gas stations are just as disgusting as any public amenity, the only advantage at the gas station is you can be gone in a few minutes.

Right now the advantage at a charging station the majority of them are in a place you would mostly likely rather stop at versus gas stations are everywhere. Even at the places you don't want to be.

It's really all relative to location, which also points out public chargers are not readily available everywhere. Something everyone agrees on.

    Edit

I forgot about those states where you don't pump your own gas.

I wonder if that has an impact on the adoption of EV?

R1S isn't bad looking just like I said about the R1T. I like the darker shade on the R compared to the Toyota, lighting and the contrasting black roof probably have something to do with that. I don't care for the brushed chrome window trim or the large wheels and low profile tires.

I’m still wondering why Rivian decided to make their turn signal stalk different than everybody else’s for the last 40+ years. The stalk doesn’t click up/down and stay in place, just pushes up/down and then goes back to center with the signal on. Not any better or worse but just different for no apparent reason.

It seems like new manufacturers need to be different just for the sake of being different.
