    See if you can get Schluter products...they have complete systems for showers.

    Assuming the worst case...

    1 - tear up the existing tile and drain, replace drain

    2 - get positive drainage on the concrete slab to the drain ( rebuild threshold & pour a thin layer of quikcrete and slope it towards the drain)

    3 - lay down a rubber membrane (over the threashold and up the walls at least 6" IIRC)

    4 - more quikcrete

    5 - new tile

    6 - drink beer and sue the contractor who messed things up in the first place

    Use the Schluter base , no pitched slab to deal with , no EPDM .

    you only want the standing water to see if it's seeping through the grout... shouldn't matter if you have to add more water.... :notsure:

    Remove the finish drain plate by taking out the 2 screws , put a face cloth in a plastic bag and push it into the drain trying not to rip the bag , fill the pan with water about 1" deep , wait and see if the water shows up on the floor , add water if needed , it doesn't matter if you lose some down the drain , all you want to know is if the water on the floor is coming from the pan or not .
