Hi everyone. I just bought a 2021 off road Tacoma 4 x 4 long bed and want to put Bilstein 5100 on the front and rear. I do not want the front of the truck higher than the back and I want to maintain the factory ride. I had some issues with an older truck when I did a full 2 inch lift. I lost a lot of down travel and the truck didn't drive right over bumps. Does anyone know which one of the settings will just keep the whole truck level? I'm just going to go one size bigger tires than stock and want the front and back to be the same height. Thanks. RD

From what I hear, you can't put the front 5100's up to the top setting #5 (2") with a long box, but it's irrelevant since you don't want the front higher.

I just put 5100's in the front of mine on yesterday (top clip #5, 2"), so I have to wait for them to settle before deciding on lifting the rear or not. But it's definitely sitting higher up front right now.

Worst case scenario, I will lift the rear 1", if I have to.

Sorry, cant really answer your question, but would assume around #3 or #4 setting would be close to level.

Setting the perch on the 4th clip and a one inch rear block will give you an amazing ride, please use your factory coils to keep the Bilstein lifetime warranty. That set up will give you a slight rake. The 5th setting and a one I inch block will be level.

Can’t go wrong with 5100’s. Before upgrading I had them on 5th setting great budget lift IMO. OP like others said put at least a 1” block in rear so your not nose high. For me I like factory rake so when I load truck I’m not sagging.
    Good luck

They won’t settle much if any on factory coils

Thank you for the information I think I'll start with just a 1in in the front and leave it stock in the back and hopefully it will be level at that point. Then I will get 265 75 16 BF Goodrich Tires and it should be okay.

Am I correct in thinking I can buy 5100's for the front and the one in Block for the rear and be done? Should I replace rear shocks? (Only 16k on them). Do I need an alignment after? Is differential angle going to be a problem? Any hidden items that I would need to purchase?

Yes an alignment is needed, I had a front diff installed and a rear carrier bearing drop, they are less than $50. I had a reputable off road shop do mine and mine is within spec. Rides great, no shakes or vibrations. Add the 5100 rear shocks as well they are perfect for a one inch block lift. Another thing is you may need a 1/4 shim on the driver's side if you wanna correct the Taco lean and maybe look at doing the ECGS clam shell bushing replacement as a proventive measure for the needle bearing which after a slight lift can cause a slight vibration. Lots of people who do 5100s claim no vibrations and it usually occurs with a spacer lift. I did it just to be covered if it develop into a vibration later.

Reviving a dead thread here. I have 5100s up front on mid clip which leveled the truck. I added a Snugtop to keep my stuffs safe whilst traveling. Then added air bags to be able to adjust my levelness while I roam.
Question is will 5100s on the rear affect anything at this point? 34k miles on the rears but I hate the stink bug look so if they will add lift I will stay with oem.

Rear shocks will add 0 lift
