What size dropper do you need?

Hell yeah! Might have it all put together by Christmas. Need to make some decisions on the cockpit, easy to get lost in the choices. I’ll likely go PNW for the dropper and thinking Spank 220 for the seat.

I’m not sure yet. Factory is 150 for the S3, I was going to get it all put together and measure. I might be able to get away with a 170. I have a 150 dropper on my current bike I can test and decide where to go from there.

    not enough.
i love my oneup but dropper seems to be more and more of a contentious choice amongst people. I can put a 180 on my bike using the oneup when stock it comes with a 150 raceface. weird. as for seat, i love mye rgon but that's such a super personal decision. can't tell you what'll fit your butt.

Haha i shoulda been more specific. I meant post diameter. I’ll have an SDG Tellis 150mm / 31.6 I’d be willing to let go cheap in the next few weeks. Could make it a package deal with some Vittoria Mazza tires.

Oh, gotcha. I believe 34.9 but the frame came with a sleeve (I’d have to measure to see what size it slims down to).

Anyone use the We Are One handlebar set? Tough finding reviews on it.

You should try the new wolf tooth dropper and let us know what you think. I fixed my one up, ended up being a half ass cable install at the seatpost haha. I’m still intrigued by the Wolftooth since most of my bike is Wolftooth where possibke

I'll check them out. I like the PNW Loam because of the travel adjustment. I'm not an experienced bike builder so having some ability to mess with that at the end is attractive. I plan to buy the dropper last. I have a 150 i can test from my current bike and would like to have everything else built so i can take some proper measurements. I'll check out wolf tooth. Don't know much about them, sort of flying by the seat of my pants, haha.

Yeah it can all be trial and error. Like I got the 240mm one up dropper because according to all the measurements it should have fit with like 1CM of post out but I’m assuming the actuator was just too big for my bike so I had to go with the 210mm with like 2-3” of the post sticking out…first world problems

I’m a fan of wolf tooth since its made in the USA. Although it looks like the dropper might have some sort of outsourcing since the site says engineered and assembled in the USA instead of the usual made in USA

Been running wolf tooth levers on my last few bikes. Ordered a colored one and some Deity grips for an upcoming bike. Colors didn’t match as well as I’d hoped for, and it’s unclear how either with work with the bike color.

I really like the PNW grips on my hard tail. If that color is a closer match I may be giving the PNW Loam lever a go. Been curious how that one compares to the WT.

They’re good stuff for sure. I like the combo and fit, they seem to have put a lot of thought into the bars.
I won’t be the person to say they’re soooo much better than other carbon bars though, I’m not that sensitive to these things.

Probably the lightest combo on the market, plus it survives EWS week in and out on the WAO team.

Welp I let my buddy take my mtb while I rode the gravel bike on a trail and I pinch flatted my gravel bike tube. Wheels and tires are already tubeless ready, so I bought some tubeless valve stems and sealant to get kickstarted converting to tubless

My brother and nephew rode the new Ride Bham trails (or whatever they are called) today. He said they are pretty legit. The climb back up he said is real steep.

    Question for you all….

Any of you ride a Pivot Switchblade? Was in Durango this weekend watching my daughter’s soccer games, and of course, I had to go visit the bike shops. i saw a Pivot Switchblade, size Lg, that just caught my eye and makes me want to jump up to this level of bike - extra travel (160 Fox Per 36/ 142 Fox FloatX) carbon frame compared to my Stumpjumper Comp Alloy with SRAM NX build and 140/130 travel. Group set on the Pivot was the SLX/XT if I remember correctly. It was up on the second level rack and in between bikes, so I couldn’t get a great look at components.

    https://global.pivotcycles.com/products/switchblade

Any thoughts on this? Durango isn’t far from me, and I wouldn’t mind going back to see my daughter in the next few weeks and could check it out again. And the wife even seemed ok with it! Just have to figure out if I could sell the Stumpjumper to pay for a portion of it.

    Thanks for the feedback!

Have a feeling I know where those came from…

Can confirm, the peanut butter lever and grips look good on toast.
    We’d be twinning.

I demo'd one 4-5 years ago. It was the only Pivot I rode that I actually liked. But the super boost rear spacing made it a hard no for me. If you're only going to run one bike it wouldn't be a big deal but I like to be able to swap between bikes if needed, so I want them each to have the same specs wherever possible. Wheels are a frequent item I need to switch. Otherwise I thought it rode really well and I liked the idea of being able to switch between 27.5 and 29 wheels and having the flip chip for adjusting geometry.

I’ve yet to check it out. I want to, but need to get a daily pass to try before going annual.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about it from those guys that compare it to Kanuga.

Second hand info only, a regular riding buddy of mine bought one last fall, just sold it this weekend. He maybe only rode it 10 times, claimed he loved the bike but never brought it out. He dropped back a couple spots in our group when he did ride it, XTR build with the carbon hoops. He just bought a S-Works Stumpy.

I think it will depend on what you ride. He loved it on the downs but it was more work on the ups. We ride more CC type trails so I think it was the wrong bike for 90% of what we ride. PIVOT has a tendency to over build their frames which isn't a bad thing but they get a little heavy. Since he got his Stumpy he's back where he belongs in our little pecking order and having fun on a regular basis again.

You asked for a little feedback and I'm not trying to sway your decision but if you have a chance to demo one on your local trails, do it to see if its the right bike.
