Don’t know who it was but, someone replaced my throw rug.

Now this normally would have pissed me off however,
He put this one down AND he took the other one and rolled it up and secured the roll.
Then, he put a smiley sticky note on it.
I realized the old one was getting kinda shoddy looking.
    Thank you very much.

We could talk about any of those things for a long time and not agree to anything. The point I wanted to make is that the boy didn't want to kill the doe. He wanted the outing with the big boys, and when the time came to kill, he couldn't do it. He should not be held up to criticism and giggles and smirks behind his back for not taking the shot, but rather, his moral decision to not kill should be cause for a manly handshake and celebratory moment with his elders in recognition of his making a choice he can live with. By handling it correctly, he becomes a man, with ridicule he remains a child.

Just to throw a monkey wrench in there... and since I have no idea what the kid was thinking... it could also be that he wanted a better shot, or his hand was shaking, or he wanted to wait for a buck, or any of a thousand reasons that are only his own and his to have. There are bad things that can happen in the hunt... but none of them entail declining to take a shot. And there is definitely a cause for celebration, if for no other reason that the outdoors in the fall is the best place to be with supportive companions.

The animal kingdom has a way of their own. I had 2 fawns sniffing at my feet while taking a nap in the woods. Stayed until momma snorted and they all trotted off :D. Gave up hunting to use vacation time to travel.

The most important thing is he is out in nature. Travir you make a good point “…I have no idea what the kid was thinking”, and Alan hits the most important point on no criticism for the choice he made. ‘Being outdoors is the best place to be with supportive companions’ says it all.

Right after my brain surgery I was in the eastern sierras sitting on a deer trail. It was not a good idea for me to do heavy hiking yet, so I had my hunting partners drop me off and return after about a 10 mile fire road loop 2 hours or so. I had a 3X2 walk up the trail and just stare at me. I never raised my rifle.
I have shot many animals since then, including an African hunt, that day I just couldn’t do it! There was something spiritual about that day and that animal.

I will never look at a man differently because he doesn’t want to hunt. It’s a personal decision that demands respect. Just the same leave me out of your negative comments because I do. Sometimes I believe the desire to be able to hunt and fish is what helped me heal from almost impossible odds.

Good Morning! Rained yesterday afternoon right at the end of a cook. Still wet out this morning but the temperature is 55 degrees this morning. Once the backyard project was finished, I seem to have a lot more time on my hands. Time to practice the guitar more.

    Morning all:
The grandson said he didn't shoot because of the brush and he didn't have a good enough shot at the deer, no criticism, that was his choice. My buddy didn't shoot at the dandy buck that he saw because of that same brush, big difference when using a bow vs. a rifle, there is a high probability that that brush will deflect an arrow so best to wait for a clear shot. No carrying on either when he missed the buck last year with a rifle either, it happens, and after a little razzing about him maybe getting buck fever on a little buck he was reminded that we also missed buck and it's NBD, but he may not get another chance at one. The worse scenario is crippling a deer and not getting it, it's best to take a high percentage shot at one, if possible, but even then, things don't always go as planned!
The thing that had both his grandfather and myself scratching our heads over was when he said about shooting a deer in the guts, NO, NO, NO, I don't know where he got that idea, but he's repeatedly being reminded about where to aim in different situations.

What I am about to type is a joke. It is not meant to make the internet mad. Here it is:

What a shock. The person from San Fransisco is opposed to hunting and meat eating. LOL

He sounds like he's a smart hunter, not an idiot like me. After all my years of hunting, I still feel like I need to get a shot off. That usually results in the loss of a $20 bolt and scaring away the deer for the rest of the day. And at almost 60, I still get buck fever.

Texas still has to learn that there are 4 quarters to play. And we have to remember our new QB has a whopping 3 games under his belt - his first actual road game. I hope it doesn't take all year to learn, because they have more talent than we've had in years.
And the Aggies were only #5 to start the year because "recruiting!" Of course, Texas fans are very glad that they locked up Jimbo Fisher for a decade!

 , when I was young, I think the whole darn tree was shaking when I saw a buck approaching but got pretty darn steady when I was ready to take the shot. Now I don't get too excited until I have a decent buck on the ground, then I get all hyped up as the adrenalin kicks in and it takes a while to calm down.
The hunters in Pa now have competitors for deer, COYOTES, and when they do take down a deer I don't think it's a good way for a deer to meet their demise, on the flip side, those coyotes need to eat too.

Talked to my buddy Bill yesterday, his mother just passed away at 105, there is hope!

    Prayers for your friend Bill.

Decided not to fix the Keurig. Took it apart and reset the thermocouple and that did allow the machine to be turned on. The reason why the thermocouple tripped is because there was no water moving into the tube. I also noticed that with water in the tank and you turn the Keurig on the water pump was not working. I could not find any information on testing the water pump, but I did find a replacement water pump for $22.00 delivered. Wife said wait for a Holiday sale on a single cup machine. his machine is only about 4 years old and gets used maybe 3 weeks a year. We store it at my SIL's home and use it when we visit twice a year. Did not want to spend the money and find out the pump was not the problem. I will still try to fix it but there is little to no information on the internet on testing specific parts. Time to bust out a multi-meter and get to work. I have a month to fix it.

First pic has the area where the thermocouple is located and the water pump. The second pic is the thermocouple circled and the reset hole in the thermocouple.
