I had the rear axle centered. Just a tall SOB with TG 5" springs...

Cutting the perches and setting the pinion angle is the best way to avoid vibes, has nothing really to do with 2 piece vs 1 piece.

The perches are new so i'm sure they're being set to optimal angle.

I go a couple degrees lower to account for axle wrap but yeah, if you have a 1 piece CV driveshaft you want to point it at the tcase (or carrier bearing for 2 PC)

It's tempting, give me a year or so to get some bills paid and I might.

Still pricey but atleast it comes with the links and everything helps locate each other. That’s probably the best sas kit I’ve seen for a Tacoma and the only one for a second gen.

I still don’t get buying a kit though when you look at the work involved with the cutting and welding and skill/experience required there, just save a few thousand and do the geometry yourself and buy the tabs etc.

a sas still isn’t easy with a kit.

I think it's easier said than done with the figuring out the geo on your own for a good amount of people. I've seen some really hack sas jobs.

The appeal of a kit to me is less down time. Something like that kit might save you a couple of months of weekends, which is the only time I get to spend on it. I'll agree it's spendy but your time is also worth something. Besides what isn't spendy when you are building a truck.

Just getting my feet wet and planning/thinking about a SAS. I’m long travel with a four link rear currently on an 09 Tacoma. It’s doing fine, but it’s damn near impossible to get the front to articulate easily since the rear is so smooth and I don’t feel like putting more money and effort into it. Steering is awful and I couldn’t imagine the strain 40’s would put on the system even with the 934 CVs etc. Solid axle seems like much less fuss for everything. I have plenty of basic bitch questions I haven’t seen a lot of clear feedback on-

What Toyota axles work for the layout up front? I’m guessing a driver side drop Land Cruiser? I’m not sure where to begin finding one and buying a built one from online seems ridiculous. I still have the stock e locker rear. I expect it to go at any moment, but it hasn’t yet so I’m not wanting to throw anything silly up front just yet.

For full hydro folks, why have I not seen alot of rams mounted to the axle on SASed tacos? Seems so easy to me compared to all the linkage, but I’m trailering this thing no street driving. Any cons beside the increased sprung weight? Seems like a bit more uptravel could be squeezed out of it too. Does this require different knuckles or anything?

For wheeling around here, what’s my trade off for extending the wheelbase to gain uptravel? how far forward are folks going to get more? Any way to notch the frame or move the engine up? I want to keep a low center of gravity.

That’s all my brain has rambling around right now haha

    1. Have fun finding a driver drop SA from a LC
    2. If you plan on running 40, you will need to change your rear end. The 8" is a POS for that massive tire size.
    3. If custom housing is expensive, why not 1t/14b? But the amount of time needed to prep used axle and upgrade internals etc is not too far off from a custom. Time/stress = $$$.
    4. Full hydro has no road manner. All the full hydro I'd seen are mounted to a platform that is welded to the axle, so I'm not sure what you are talking about now.

    More research needed......
