So I didn't have this problem on my 2013, and I haven't ever seen this on another vehicle, but when I open the fuel door, it doesn't have any sort of lockout function. It swings freely. It's a minor problem but I'm sure that this is not a problem.

Usually when you open a fuel door there's some type of spring that holds it open, but not on this model as far as I can tell. Does anybody know how to fix this?

The way it's angled keeps it open.

Yep, the cost cutting really shins through on this particular lack of feature I agree. I think it is normal based on other examples.

If there is any wind at all, it will blow it closed. There should be some sort of over half way open toggle spring.

Neither has mine. You can actually feel it lock in place when you shut the door. Gotta be something really wrong with the op's if not the same.

Yes, there is a spring catch when it is closed. We are talking about a spring to hold it open while at the pump. Most cars have that, it is a over toggle design that either pops the door open, or keeps it shut.

Yea this is my problem completely, it closes just fine. It's really a convenience problem but still pretty annoying.

Bad idea. Those hinges are flimsy and some reisitance would throw off the door alignment.

enough people have the problem when that hinge gets sticky/rusty the door doesnt close, it folds in half, when pressured. make sure to spray some sort of lube, or corrosion protection onto that hinge. Ski

Really don't see the point for a spring to hold the door open. My door will stay open till i shut it.

    Very interesting.

The door opens up and stays put...even with the gas cap in-place as I see it. It's also springs back into place when I close it.

How to fix that? I'd take it back to the dealership and have them evaluate--but I have 2 more service dates before my 2yr ToyotaCare expires.

Most here, stay away from dealerships. Good luck finding a fix.
