TRD Pro VS Off Road

You find me a dealer that'll sell me a Pro for 1500 less than MSRP and you'll be my new best friend. This isn't 2019/2020 anymore. They just aren't cutting deals on the Pro.

 

MSRP is today's new $1,500 discount. Will it ever go back to the old days where you can negotiate down near (or even below in some cases) dealer invoice? I cannot answer that; the manufacturer to dealer franchise model is changing and it could well be MSRP will be the baseline for the foreseeable future.

 

I'm lined up for a PRO at MSRP though I did have to get the paint protection package. Oh well... Supposed to be here in a week or two

Yup. Kills me. I bought my Tundra for about $6,000 under sticker.... in 2019! I don't go telling the guys that bought in '21+ that "they didn't look hard enough" or "they didn't negotiate" because I recognize that the market landscape has changed so drastically that my experience is irrelevant. Essentially, if you bought your vehicle pre-2021, no one cares what you paid or how much you saved.

 

Does the Pro with MT still have a hard key that you stick into the steering column and turn to start it? I would find it hard to swallow that a $50k truck does not have SmartKey and Keyless Start.

Yes, all 6MT models use the "hard key"; the good news is they are harder to steal.

 

Wow, congrats. You’re probably one of the last people to have paid below MSRP for a Pro. You can’t do that today, which should factor into the buying decision.

 

So, a base Off Road, compared to a base PRO, is still $10K difference...... truly significant. You can option up the OR, but you can't make a PRO cheaper.
That is comparing the same base model of each trim.

 

There is no such thing as a "base" pro. To compare the Off Road to the Pro you need to put it to equivalent specs/equipment. Obviously more features will cost more. You gonna try to compare a base model SR to your TRD Off Road next?

 

Silly me, I truly don't understand the argument here; if you want a strippo truck you won't be in the market for a Pro, however, the more goodies you want on a Taco, the closer you'll get to Pro pricing territory. If I was faced with the choice of a fully tarted out TRD Off Road or a TRD Pro; I'd probably opt for the latter.

I was trying to say everyone has to have their own way of justifying the $$ spent. I know I do the $$ rationalization argument with myself w/ high end audio components lol

 

I don’t know, I paid $44k for my fully optioned out Off-road, and I love every single option (except the moonroof which I could have done without, but don’t hate it either). Even if I had the opportunity to get a Pro at MSRP I would have gone with the Off-road. I don’t care about he upgraded suspension or the extra badging, or even potential resale value. I prefer the extra $5k in my pocket. Now if the Pro had Keyless Start with MT, I might have considered it.

 

Correct, but there is a cheaper version of the OR, has almost all the off road goodies, and coasts 10k less. You just don't get it.

 

But you can't opt for a cheaper, less optioned PRO, but you can on the OR.

 

Apparently you do not understand the concept of apples to apples comparisons; given that, just stop.

 

The ONLY offroad goodies it has base is the locker, crawl control, and MTS. No MTM, no lift, no skid, worse approach and departure angles, less capable off road shocks. That's just the off road stuff. And that's fine, lots of people don't want those. I fully understand. Trying to compare a well equipped truck to a less equipped truck is stupid.

I think all TRD OR 4x4's come stock with the locker, crawl contro/MTS

 

I just test drove a 21 T4R trd off road with 8500 miles that I really loved. They wanted 47,500. Problem is, I don’t wanna trade my truck with 119k. I use it for stuff. Taking leaves to dump and the like. Therefore my payments will be around $800 even with $10k down. And my driveway can only fit 3 cars so I’ll wait and look around after new driveway install.
