I bet its a reoccurring issue at THAT dealership due to the dumbfvck they hired to do the quicky oil changes

You might want to check the oil filter too...

Yup that's total BS, they forgot to put it on. If your engine shakes that much to vibrate the oil cap off then something is seriously wrong with your engine. Go back & tell em you want a new engine under warranty. :D

100 percent IMO that the dealer who serviced your truck forgot to put the cap back on. Happened to me not once but twice. I always check the engine bay, lug nut lock adapter and the under side.

Strange issue with the oil cap. EDIT--I call BS from the dealership!!!

I would hand twist the OEM oil cap (on/off) and check it periodically with no issues. (Gives the hood struts usage by checking the engine bay once a week)

In April of this year, I upgraded the oil cap to a nicer looking one.

It gets twisted on/off as the OEM oil cap did (which I kept) and has a better grip.

The engine bay is a work in progress...once I need to replace the battery to one without caps, I can put the battery tie down I bought from a member here.

Oddly no. I thought the cap was essential to retain oil pressure which is why I thought my
    engine was effed

This is a common problem. Why has no one had this happen to them? Usually when it happens the fog lamps simultaneously eject from the bumper. :pumpkin:

I was getting ready to see my mechanic.... but I figured I check things out here first.

Got an oil change ~350 miles ago. Went to check the oil before I left this morning. Something looked odd. Bingo. No oil cap. Swirled my finger down the filler neck... It's dry. No oil on the underside of the hood. Oil on the dipstick is as clean as when it was changed. I haven't driven in the rain. Checked the skid plate. Nope. So I put a ziplock sandwich bag and a rubber band over the opening and went to the auto parts store and bought one. Installed as tight as a hand can tighten it.

Drove 150 miles. Checked it upon arrival. It was loose, but still present.
Beats me why... I am thinking about chalking it (like the brownies do to your tires to ensure you've moved your car once every two hours lest you pay a $125 parking tickets) to see if it wiggles itself loose.

Maybe I am in the twilight zone....

I shouldn't have to use channel locks to tighten an oil fill cap.

There should be a gasket under the cap. Look and see if it’s there. That gasket does more than keep oil from leaking. It also helps keep the cap tight to the valve cover.

Mabe the reoccurring issue is that their tech's keep forgetting to put the cap on! Lol.

I've always done my own oil change and never had an issue with the cap coming off. ‍♂️

So i had the same thing happened to my oil cap on my 2021, was cleaning my engine and noticed the oil cap missing. truck still under warranty so the only place that serviced my truck is the dealer. I went back to them and they gave me the run around saying that it was impossible for them to not put the cap back on! they said that I must have had my truck serviced somewhere else. they didn't do any thing! I had to but a new cap at the dealer and put it on. no oil was in the engine bay at all tho. later i got an oil change at the same dealer and made sure the cap was on before I left. few weeks later the cap was missing again! I ended up buying a cap at autozone and it's been on there good for a few months now.

I can't shut a hood without checking the oil fill cap.

I left one off in 2006 on my own damn car and it sprayed oil everywhere.

With every other vehicle I've owned, the oil filler cap required a "push to turn" seat. It had to be depressed somewhat in order to loosen it.

My Tacoma is the fist vehicle I've owned that had a filler cap with straight or tapered pipe threads on it that relied of straight friction for securing it in place...

If the technicians don't put it on super-tight, it will wiggle off...
