Not too impressive, but first attempt at box joints came out decent I think! Made a super miniature router table/box joint sled for my trim router and banged out some decorative 6” planter boxes out of a scrap cedar fence picket. Lessons to be learned for next attempt, fix my template piece on my sled for tighter tolerances, use clamps for glue up to close the gaps, and buy a respirator.

 

I only do stuff on the side as a hobby and for the most part it's primarily just been cutting boards lately for the holiday season, but here is a slideshow of some of the stuff I've made in the past few years.

Same here. I have to force myself to not blow a paycheck there every couple weeks. So much cool shit. Thats why I intentionally built my wood shop 12x16 cause there's only so much room to keep wood and tools

I need some help here. This is meant to be my reloading bench and I am building a two-tier shelf that will attach to the top. What I can't decide on is how to attach it. Do I need to be worried about wood movement? Any suggestions?

 

cam locks? Depends on the wood type but shouldnt be too bad

It's red oak and I did think about these. I've never used them before. How difficult is it to drill the holes?

 

I havent used them yet but look easy. just mark depth and mortise bit for the cam lock on the upper piece. Ive seen them in lots of desk furniture.
