TRD Pro VS Off Road

I'd be super careful there. Don't know if it was a trade in or an auction buy that they put make up on so you don't see the scars. I'm a cynic and have awful luck used. 4 of the last 5 vehicles I've purchased were new. Care to guess which one I got rid of because of problems?

 

The MT OR comes with the A-TRAC System in place of Crawl Control.

Bringing this thread back around to the original topic...

I'm curious about how the Pro rides on the street vs the Off Road. A friend from work has the Sport, and I test drove that prior to getting my Off Road. I could definitely tell that the Sport's suspension was more car-like, and solid, stiffer. My OR feels more "floaty" compared to the Sport, and I just barrel over potholes with impunity. I love it. For those who have driven both, is the Pro's suspension even more "floaty" than the OR, or is it something else entirely?

 

Funny thing after I ppsted this I recalled that I saw an all black TRD Pro 22 or 23 at the dump, it was pretty nice, looked stock with exception of ditch lights and tinted AM tail lights. Before I saw the Raptor, and I completely forgot.

Looks like animater blue is the only blue available on the 22 Raptor, this truck didn't look like the other Fords I have seen in AMB. I thought someone might have known what the color was.

Don't mind me if you want to read about the difference between a Pro and an OR.

Before I forget best thing I saw today! Was a long bed 2wd 2.5gen Tundra towing a trailer with a F250 Tremor that had morimoto LED headlights, a sliced up bedside that came out of an IAA lot. Didn't think a Tundra could pull a F250 Super Crew.

 

I get what some of the guys are saying about

I have 2022 OR shocks on my 07 sport. The sport shocks were fine, I just wanted to level the front, and truthfully the shocks came free with the new wheels. The OR shocks are much firmer on my 07 "sport", however they are far less comfortable in terms of ride. My 2022 PROs shocks feel nothing like the sports or OR on the sport. They are firm and have way more rebound. You can really feel it out on the Northern Colorado/wyoming dirt roads with washboard. The PRO just devours them. I'll look down and realize I'm going 70.... My "sport" OR hybrid thing would be piled up in the ditch. True the second gen doesn't have all the wheel assist, but the shocks wouldn't hold that pace either.

LMAO I meant which one of the 5, used or new.

I did have a "Jeep" in name only, though. (2018 Renegade Trailhawk) Liked it, but it wasn't enough for the snow. If I live in town and just needed a little commuter grocery getter, I would have kept it. Super spacious feel inside that little box, and the cargo space was perfect for groceries. Hauled a lawnmower with the seats down. All around decent little rig. You can't get that little motor anymore. Now they are less than 2 liters with a turbo. Wouldn't buy one of those.


Anyway, back on to Pro vs OR - I'm going Pro because I just want to be done with major mods and because Solar Octane makes me tingle in fun places.

 

I think the color is Nerf or Nothing.

 

Off-road all the way.
Suspension on these truck is easy. Why pay thousands for some logos and parts you could do your self?
Just my opinion. Pro versions are way over priced and under value

 

At that point wouldn't an SR model 4x4 be just as good, if you were adding everything yourself?

I hated buying my Tacoma, the features of each model and package was hard to keep in my head. I finally had to write everything down, and now that I don't have my notes, and I forget what each model comes with.

 

The rear locker is the key factor. Factory installed is a great option. That is why I went OR.

 

Honest answer, go with the 4Runner off-road. My wife and I have a 4Runner and Tacoma 2020 years. Almost the same upgraded suspension and tires(33s). The 4Runner just feels better all around for daily driving and off roading. I love my Tacoma but for long drives, daily driving, and off roading the 4Runner feels better. The 4Runner is bigger inside but feels way smaller on the trails than my LB Tacoma.

Your honest opinion touched an OR nerve...like, within 10 minutes of you writing this.

People speak badly/negatively of other models (at times) and claim to have the best model themselves.

These trucks are meant to satisfy the masses...and for the most part they do.

Paying for supposed unnecessary options (in the eyes of some) is a subject willing to be exploited.

After being here (TW) just over a year and on forums since 2011, it still baffles me how people negate opinions.

 

@50Buck, and @Horseshoze, not trying to piss you guys off, but if I’m going to buy an OR, I would buy a low optioned truck, for me, that’s what I would want. It is an apple to apple comparison, as it’s the truck the way I want it, not you. You guys pull in other brands, bicycles, to make you points, and say I don’t compare correctly? Surly you jest.

 

Nobody is upset that you would get the truck that you want. I would hope that you would. The only issue I have is that you are trying to say that comparing a base model OR to a Pro is an equivalent comparison. It simply is not, as there is a significant difference in features. Just because you don't want those features doesn't mean they aren't of value and wouldn't cost you something on any truck. There's nothing wrong with buying a base, mid, or upper trim of any vehicle if it suits what you are after, but trying to say the comparison of base tier and top end is fair, well... it's silly.

It's an apples to oranges comparison, and using the other brands was hyperbole to illustrate the point. Yes, comparing the Colorado was more of an apples to tomatoes comparison, but they're both trucks/fruits respectively. The comparison of the base OR and the Pro is a closer comparison, thus apples and oranges, but it's still not a good comparison.

 

I can tell you that my PRO 4RNR is way more floaty than my Taco. Can’t speak Taco To Taco.
