I don't usually drive an automatic. Never thought you had much control of the car. Last one I owned was in 2004 for about 7 months. A truck I barely drove in favor of my motorcycle and/or the wife's mini s.

Now I've got a loaner while my tacoma is being fitted with a new engine. A camry LE. 23000 dollars worth of car I'm told. Almost what I paid for my tacoma.

It's been so long I almost started believing people when they said they did have control of the car.
Thought maybe I was crazy when I thought it was easier to drive stick in traffic. Nope.. vindicated to myself. Pain in the butt.
Don't like it. Won't be doing it in the future if at all possible.

Partially sucks because I'm not used to driving an automatic. But actually paying attention to the actions I take when driving, Its actually more work to drive an auto, with a lot less brain and awareness. Always on the gas, off the gas instantly to brake, constantly catching up with the car in front of me in slower traffic on on hills. So much trouble. Now I understand why so many of the driving dead tailgate. It's not worth the time in an automatic to drive well.. Just hurts.

Just thought I'd share that. "off topic" blurb.

2003 model should have the 4-speed, right? Just put it in "3" in traffic. The shift algorithm changes for some reason and you get more engine braking.

that's why its in off topic. Probably didn't need to be written. But I am frustrated when people tell me that "their automatic does fine" like I've never driven one.

I like my auto because having a bad knee + traffic + clutch = hell. That being said, if I could have two vehicles I wouldn't mind having a stick.

An atoll is a small tropical reef/island .

I think you mean at all .

I intentionally put atoll. I'm a fan of puns. I've been trying to work in some "peter north" puns in, but haven't had one come to me while typing.

Does it really have to be tropical? I thought it just had to be flat or ring shaped.
