    It was a birthday gift.
But I should say 50% of my local friends are Japanese. My wife is from Kyoto, and my friends Paymon, Rudy and Steve happen to also be married to Japanese. We had to form a support group just to deal with them.... LOL. otherwise, we'd never get to eat Amercian foods.
Us guys have a standing order; Tuesdays are for Tacos and Beer no matter what... no girls.
I must say the Whiskey's from Japan are top notch. My wife is in Japan right now for a month and I wonder what she might bring me home. Last time was a handmade sushi knife from her hometown.

I'm not sure of the precise coordinate, but somewhere inside the triangle of JDSBBP, Booker's, and WT Rare Breed is the best deal in bourbon.

It is absolute lunacy that three juices that good can be had for under $100 each in the current days.

I haven't had either one of those. My wife is Japanese, and she said the bottle on the left in the photo is good. Maybe I'll have to hunt one up.

My other half is Korean... her mom makes damn good food, but lives 300 miles away. Her dad gave me a special bottle of soju, but it's pretty mild stuff. Her sister, also about 300 miles away, married a white guy similar in age to me (white guy as well)... Interesting dynamic. I love Japanese whisky! It's become so popular, prices jumped and availability sunk. Hope you get something good!

The Yamazaki is super hard to get. My friend Paymon got a chance to go on the tour of the distillery, and even at that he couldn't buy more than one bottle. He gave it to me for my birthday. I never drink it without him at my house. Its sooo good.

They stopped making the Hakushu 12 a few years ago. I believe a result of rapid popularity and ran out of aged stock. I had 2 bottles from back then. A few months ago they released some bottles and I was able to grab one.

The Monsho was a gamble as I didn't know anything about it but decided to try it. It's pretty good and readily available (at Total Wine). Yamazaki 12 is my favorite Japanese. I'm looking to trade a Old Rip Van Winkle for a Yamazaki 18. I imagine that would be sublime.

Lol. You were typing this as I was mine where I mentioned Yama being my fav. I snap those up whenever I see one at low retail and horde them. I have 4 now, and will eventually open 1, but I would need to keep at least 2 in reserve until I replenish the ranks!

I've only heard good things about it. Almost mythical. The word is a lot of Rich Chinese bought up anything and everything expensive. Don't even get me started on Vine.
