    Hello everyone
i bought a leer cap and wanted to put a roof rack on top.
the cap already has the tracks.
I was looking for the part number or model number the foot posts (?) and the crossbars.
    thanks

    I added a bolt once...
    Disregard, just saw Lerr

Need to know the rack brand... I have a Thule and all parts are type specific.
The quest to understand what attachments fit is quite daunting. This is a good place to ask for help.

Post a good pic of your rails and we'll see what we can do.

I would start out by visiting a local Leer dealer and asking them to give you a qoute for a roof rack. They probably have the ability to look up the cap serial number and search their database for what racks fit your specific tracks.

If it has the standard sized tracks like most of them do then you just need to figure out what type of system you want to use, ex Thule, Yakima, etc., then decide on the bar style then pick towers and the appropriate bases. Examples here if you scroll down: https://explore.yakima.com/custom-install#fiberglassroof

I use a Yakima system because it's what I had on my other vehicles so easy parts comparability and I like their kayak saddles when I was buying parts. These days I would prefer the aero bars instead of the round bars as accessories, like kayak saddles, as they are far less likely to rotate on the bar as you push the boat forward. I've had Thule before too, they both make good stuff. I would try to buy locally if possible (support local businesses), my local kayak/paddling shop has a good selection and knowledgeable people. If you don't have any places nearby you could try eTrailer.com or rackwearhouse.com, both have good customer service the couple of times I've called them and as reported by others I know.

Thanks everyone for the great advice.
I'll try to get a picture of them today
I did go to my Leer dealer they are great with ARE tops but just started to sell Leer so they don't know some answers. In time I'm sure they will be very good.
they did take the S/N of the cap but have not heard back in a while. I may try to call another dealer to get the information.

the diagram in the link was what i was looking for.

thanks again everyone for your time and knowledge
oh i forgot I also sent an email to thule but have not heard back from them

Yakima and Thule have big product lines and lots of options. There are smaller companies too, or at least lesser-known companies that also make good stuff, like Front Runner and Rhino Rack (and others). I’ve been a Thule guy for decades on multiple vehicles, so when the 2003 Gen 1 I found to replace my 2001 came with an ARE canopy and badly-weathered Yakima load bars I replaced those with Thule stuff.

I’d expect your Leer to have similar tracks and that all the major rack producers could fit your shell. Some companies will be slightly better at one thing or another. An important consideration is what you want to DO with the rack.

Almost all of the rack companies have good websites that will provide lots of fitment guidance. Better to go there before a general email to a company.

Do you have an REI nearby? They’re pretty good at Thule/Yakima.

Here is what I have on my Leer. They work great. I was lucky enough to get a “used” set from Amazon for $180…they came new in box plus tracks. Go figure. You will need to determine what tracks they used. Mine were Thule, and then what size/style cross bars you want. https://www.amazon.com/Rhino-Rack-H...+with+thule+tracks+tacoma,aps,187&sr=8-1&th=1

Victory 4x4 cab and cap rack is tough to beat. Cap rack bolts right up to the tracks. A lot more versatile than just crossbars.

That one looks pretty nice, @ChiefBrody. Very similar to the Prinsu bed cap version I'd guess, yes?

I use Thule fork-mount bike racks on the load bars on my two Tacomas. Are these kinds of laser-cut-side-plate racks are compatible with that gear?
