    Hi all -

Long time lurker, first time poster. My truck (2014 Tacoma, 4L V6, 6 Speed, 80k-ish miles) has developed a wild issue. If I stop, pull the handbrake, and turn the truck off, the truck keeps running normally until I touch the brake pedal. I can keep driving like this too so long as I don't tap the brake pedal. If I don't pull the handbrake, it turns off just fine.

Furthermore, the locks suddenly have a mind of their own and will randomly lock/unlock. Not sure if this is related but these issues developed about a month apart. No CEL, no warning lights. All fuses are OK, jiggling the wiring harness does nothing.

No remote start on this one - everything is stock.

Any ideas??? I tried finding a wiring diagram online but looks like they're all behind a paywall

Sounds like a wonky remote start, are you the original owner? If not I'd look under the dash, I bet there's a remote start wired in under there.

I'm with this guy. "Runs with the key off & dies if you touch the brake pedal" sounds very much like what a remote start box that's faulty (or has half its wiring removed) would do.

Without studying a wiring diagram, I'm not thinking there's a mechanism in the factory wiring & electronics to make that happen.

It'd very conveniently explain the locks, too.

    Welcome to TW!

Is there any specific time the locks unlock? I've had it where I would take a right turn and they would all unlock. Found out my door latch was loose and when I would take the corner it would move out just enough and would unlock my doors.

    Thanks guys!

Nope, I'm not the original owner. There is no remote start BUT that doesn't mean there wasn't one at some point and whoever removed it did a crap job doing so.

Locks open and close completely at random.

I'll have to do some more digging this weekend and see what I find!

There's most likely some aftermarket junk under there somewhere, look under your dash in the area between the steering column and left kick panel for suspicious wiring that's where they are typically installed.

you are right, I don't know what I was thinking with that (I'm going to blame the 6/12s)
