The dealership where I bought my Tacoma does MSRP regardless of the vehicle, that and they are a pretty high volume dealership so they do get some good allocation numbers as well. With this said, I have four Toyota dealerships within 25 miles of me, and all but mine ding folks with a "Market Adjustment", some of which are upwards of $20,000 for high demand "unicorns".

In some markets (like in Texas where I am) getting a PRO at MSRP will require a year or two on a waitlist if not longer. If you want the truck now and the enjoyment of the truck sooner is worth it / you can afford it, it’s not dumb.

Several members on this forum have put me on ignore for pointing out the stupidity in paying over MSRP for a Tacoma. Paying over MSRP is dumb, and I'll die on that hill.

That’s totally ok for you to think that. Not everyone understands economics.

I agree 100% the people who pay over msrp are a huge part of the problem and they are the reason stealerships keep charging the outrageous markups that they do. The people who keep paying over msrp are the ones who are making it worse for everyone trying to buy a vehicle right now.

I understand economics just fine- probably why I don't owe anybody a penny at 41 and on track to retire by 50.

A nearby dealer has this '22 Pro on the lot. For all Tacoma's they have an additional $1274 markup over MSPR, plus another $10k for this Pro ($62,136).

Truck looks nice, but that dealer is smoking crack. There are too many that will sell a Pro at MSRP to bend over like that.

For 62K you can be in Lariat F-150 3.5 eb, it's not a Tacoma, and those are completely different trucks but still.

With that kind of price, a modded OR model sounds better, but I'd just tell the dealer to suck an egg. I refuse to pay over MSRP. I'll walk first.

Nobody is paying that kind of mark up these days. That was more common early summer. There’s more supply now.

Once it comes in, the following is what I’m looking forward to do: 1.25 spacers 5.29 gears OVTune
I have a White PRO coming in mid-December at MSRP. So excited. I was NOT going to pay over MSRP.

Back in August I had a dealer offer me a Pro with a 10k markup. The sad thing is someone probably paid the markup.

    It's a secret
My $0.02, get the TRD Pro use the hell out of the factory suspension, then when it wears out, replace/upgrade...be spendy...MSRP mark up or no, you CAN afford it.

I think there is a hidden bias or hypocrisy going on with the opinions against dealership mark-ups with vehicles. If one considers another point of view of the realestate market, it is highly doubtful a home owner will list his/her home for sale for the same original purchase price...even less likely it would be listed for a "depreciated and used" value. And that's not even a business which provides goods or a service making a profit, it is an individual who is taking that extra $100k- $250k current realestate market value from another person...because they can since everyone else is doing it...
