    There's a class action lawsuit???
I figure it is for the 4Runner, since we just had a recall on the pumps. It was for driving conditions 80MPH+ where it would shut off the truck or something.
I haven't gotten that replaced as of yet though.

Interested for the tacoma depending on size and how it attaches etc. I'd consider it for the infiniti too lol

Im on a simple 4 zone heat only system. Thermostats in place now are super old turn style with two wires so it shouldn’t be too difficult

I've been looking into programmable Thermostats, but am totally confused. I want to start with one that controls only one Zone of the heat. Currently I have a Honeywell round manual Thermostat. The only thing they've changed in about 60 years is removing the Mercury.

I read the manual for one brand (Lux?) and it seemed like piloting a 787.

What is a C wire? Is that for cooling?

Currently I think I have a red wire and a white wire. I assume that the new ones are battery powered.

The only experience I had was with a very early programmable that my mother had in her condo. It was pure luck if I could get it do anything as simple as program a temperature change. It was like casting a spell or something.

Anyway, once someone explains some of this and recommends a brand, I'd like to start with changing this one zone.

I can’t find much info online about it other than it’s $150 million settlement. One place lists these as the effected vehicles.

I think I got about $25.00 from the multi billion dollar floor mat settlement. I got $10.00 from the multi billion dollar Verizon settlement.

The lawyers make out like bandits on these class action suits. That's why they are so eager to sue and then settle for pennies for the "victims."

I got my fuel pump, I got a free rental car for the day. I'm happy.

I expect that shortly we'll see the 3rd Gen Third Taillight leak class action suit. I got my window sealed and again a free rental car for the day.

Followed by the "My Toyota taillight bulb burned out" class action lawsuit.

    And so on.

I'm waiting to see the My electric vehicle caught fire in Florida when Hurricane Ian immersed it in salt water." lawsuit.

I'm sure it's "oh yeah we'll fix your fuel pump" but ignored the consequences of that failed unit that are much larger in cost.

Put me as second tentative. Obviously if anyone else chines in, I'm out. I know a few 4R owners I'll ask around. Do they just drop in?

I'm assuming electeic baseboard per room? We have forced hot water, 3 bed ranch. 1200 sqft. In theory we could cut off one of the rooms but it just wouldn't be worth it. Electric baseboard per room makes sense to have more zones.

    See below on C wire.

The nest has a battery that charges passively from a two wire t stat. Credit where it's due, it seems to work well. I don't know how, but someone does.

The C wire is a "constant" wire. 12V + constant power to run the whole shebang. My t stat doesn't have a battery, I have a C wire running to it. Chances are, you don't have one. Also chances are, it's super easy to run an 18awg wire. I think I ran 18/2 but could be wrong. I also used blue. But that could also be wrong. Mr @Brownmatthall is probably the closest to knowing wiring colors. Maybe @Chasespeed or @AllTacosFloat just tangentially know better. I'm a DIY homeowner and it was 5 years back.

But yeah, run a C wire.

The nest is shenanigans. There's a lot of stuff with geo location (it turns on when you get off the exit ramp type of thing), pattern learning, etc. I set my schedule and just use it remotely. It is nice, my wife wakes up early one day a week for a workout club. So Wednesday it kicks on at like 430, otherwise it's 6-6:30.

The Honeywell is a lot simpler. Less flash, cheaper, but it's been 5 years without fault.

    Where you at?

@jpereira2 if it makes sense we can do skid and drawers all in one loop of the area.

I changed one out and it was a round Honeywell. Red/white wire. The mounting brackets appear to be universal to Honeywell models so I was able leave the old one on. Super simple swap out. The programming took longer .

Manual is easy to understand and the customer service is good. But, like you said, someone here will recommend something.

Nope. We have an oil burner with forced hot water. One zone is dedicated to the hot water heater. The other three zones are the house. 4k ish square foot ranch with big open walkout basement. Basement is on one zone. Upstairs is split.

I will run new wires for a C wire. I’m going to just run 18/3 or 18/5 and use one of those wires. Easier than leaving the current 18/2 in place and adding more wire.
