60+ year old thread.

VA appointment yesterday afternoon. Pulled a molar that has been troubling me for some time now. They chopped up the gum to get it out, now I'm full of stitches in that spot. Came home and ate instant potatoes and gravy and crashed for the last 5 hours. Had bought the wife some egg nog ice cream, so I tried that. Good stuff! Well, I never met an ice cream I didn't like anyway, so there's that.

Today is recuperation day from the tooth pull, but I want to change the oil in my truck.
Wife is always saying i should take it to some mechanic to change the oil. No friggin' way I'll ever do that. That would be like asking a stranger to make love to my wife because I'm too old to do it right anymore. Yes, I did that once... (The stranger oil change, that is). Some quickie oil change place. I had a Chevie small block back then, and when I did my own the next time, I discovered that they had stripped the threads on the oil pan. The plug was barely hanging on, but didn't leak. Bought an oversized plug only to find out they hadn't stripped it after all, but had replaced the SAE plug with a METRIC plug. No strangers gonna make love to my truck again.

 

Good morning, everyone. Expecting a call from the early voting chief judge to go in and set up the polling location tonight for tomorrow. I am not working tomorrow but will work on Saturday, Monday and next Wednesday. I have three medical appointments tomorrow and we are going out to a concert tomorrow night.

Today I have a guitar lesson and my third knee injection. Not a lot going on.

Never had a BMW but after many years of Audi and Porsche ownership its clear that German engineers have never actually worked on what they designed

Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Spent yesterday morning getting the stuff out of the pool, then a few hours in the garage with the door opener WiFi connection. No bueno. Sent nasty note. Off to haircut, errands, and nerve Dr. to see about the Sciatica I'm not having at the moment. Will be an educational visit only, as they are not in network.

 

I'm going to ask my doc about that when I go in next week. Thanks.

I'll agree with you on Audi and Porsche but not so much on BMW. They make things astoundingly complex, more than necessary sometimes IMO. But the BMWs I've turned wrenches on were pretty well designed in terms of servicing. Except maybe for that clutch master cylinder buried in the footwell...

 

I have to agree, by and large, the BMWs I've wrenched on are well thought out from a maintenance perspective; more recent Audis and VW..., not so much.

I managed to get a good shot of my new Tacoma with some colorful leaves this weekend.
