It reminded me of the group of kids that visited our high school in ~2002 and tried to get us all to take an abstinence pledge and bribed us with purity rings

it was some organization that went around to high schools nationwide to try and promote abstinence through fear mongering and veiled religious threats, pretty sure that whole movement petered out shortly thereafter. Was big in the 90s

 

Ah yes, abstinence. You'd think after an unsuccessful track record of 4.6billion years or like 3000 (for the dumbasses that think the world isn't very old) of abstinence not working at all they might give up on it.

 

You know what, these are the same people that are convinced of a sky daddy they cannot see, hear, or feel... I feel stupid now for bringing rational thought into it.

 

Yup, and just like with DARE programs and the like, the only kids that buy into it are the ones you never had to worry about anyway. If you want to actually get through to kids on subjects like drugs and sex you gotta be real with them. And harm reduction should always be a part of the convo, not avoided entirely.

 

Take them to the 24 hour Walmart in San Dimas at 2am to see what the long term effect of meth is on a person. It's like the walking dead.
