You're looking like you'll get your card before I get mine.

Do post up on it and tag me when you do get it!

I hear a lot of good about AMD cards but haven't owned one since the days of the old All-In-Wonder Pro.

Only reason why I had mentally decided on the RTX is due to Ray Tracing.

Wait a month and see what AMD drops. There's a pretty good chance their second gen Ray Tracing cards catch up to nVidia 3000 series. I had an AMD 6950XT (gave it to my brother and got a 4090) and it was a crazy good card. Better than the 3090 in most games except ray tracing but I rarely played games that had ray tracing lol.

Rdna3 must be looking good if Asus is dropping their 6800xt down to $529.

Wow..I'm so glad I even came back and posted here about my new PC build.

New AMD cards are looking like they're going to be a better value. And with prices dropping, that 6800 XT could be the better choice vs the RTX 3070...

    Thanks for the headsup!

6800xt smokes a 3070. I believe it goes head to head with a 3080 10gb, but $300 or so less

    Smokes?

I'll take your word for it! Not sure what compares to what exactly these days.

But in keeping true to my budget build, I'll just reuse the same case I'm running now considering I'm reusing a shit ton of other stuff

Still need to get mods for my rig, finish some DIY stuff, and finish home projects.

Deviated from my original choice and got an NZXT H510 case in white

Just need a CPU cooler now and I'm done

I've got the same case. There's been some complaints of high temps with it, but I've not had any overheating issues.

Be careful with that USB-C connector.. it can be a little finnicky.

    Appreciate the headsup

I don't expect any temp issues; we run the AC on 24/7 plus I've got a cheap, non-overclocking cpu.

It's not that you'll overheat, it's more that you'll run warmer than some cases with better airflow. Gamers Nexus has done a ton of case testing. If you like the aesthetics and you're not going to run enthusiast level components in the build it'll be fine, you'll never notice. The problems happen when folks jam a 12/13th Gen high TDP Intel chip and a 3080 or 6800XT or above into the H510, especially if the card is almost against the front fan.

Hoping I can get 70fps at 1440p on Cyberpunk with my new cpu upgrade :fingerscrossed:

Already blew past my budget on this build

    Jesus, that's AM3. I haven't seen one since I built a Thuban rig back around 2010.

Figured it'd bring back old memories for some.

As you know, I've got a 12400 I'm going to put together soon.

But I also have old parts I want to make another build with.

I got this PC free, and scrapped the mobo and cpu that was in it -

    20221025_161154.jpg

    20221025_160443.jpg

Using the case temporarily for my E8400 build -

    20221025_160447.jpg

Need a cpu cooler and backplate but those are pennies on the dollar.

Got this bad boy that's period-correct for the build too -

    20221025_165130.jpg

Thinking I'll get some Crysis running on it and maybe some other old games.

You know I'll need to install and run Winamp

    Thanks Fam :fistbump:

Although this should hold me up for a good while; I mean even if I got an RTX4090 I'm thinking the GPU will be my bottleneck still
