Guy at a computer store told me that yesterday.

Went to check out cpu coolers for my 12400, and we got to talking about the 4090.

Says it takes 3 8-pin connectors?

By chance, anyone here have an old 2.5 SSD they would want to get rid of?

I say old because I want to see if my old mobo would support it.

    That'd be awesome!

Plan is to run Windows 7 and old games.

Just ordered a Thermaltake PSU for the old build.

Not gonna lie I still use it. The site is still active too. Was the only "AOL" product other than messenger I could tolerate in those old days. I still preferred ICQ but not many used that.

If it's formatted, sure! Just a cheap padded envelope should do.

Reason why I'm wanting old is

    1. Most people would toss them away as I have a few in the past

    2. In the event that the MOBO doesn't play well with read issues, especially boot, the loss is minimal at best

Two different SSD's total just to be safe. One as boot and one as storage; or just one as boot in case the other doesn't read.

Thermaltake has a bad reputation when it comes to PCI-E risers. I know multiple people personally that have thought they have a ded GPU on boot when really their Thermaltake riser has crapped the bed. IMHO it's free for a reason, it's garbage.

    Yeah.
Did you check out the Corsair 4000D? Looks like it ticks at least most of those boxes. Between my last 2 builds using the 4000D and the NZXT 510 mentioned previously, the Corsair was significantly nicer and I think it gets pretty good reviews.

I think Winamp 3 came out when AOL took over, and no one liked it. They eventually came out with 5 (Winamp 2 + 3). It was what everyone liked about 2 plus a few of the good new things 3 had.

I also thought ICQ was better, but it seemed like everyone was using AIM before IMs faded away.

Agreed on all of those fronts. I still know my number by heart for some dumb reason. That and I can still hear the "uh-oh" alert!

Not gonna lie, even back in the day Winamp hated my music library size. Doesn't care too much now a days. Or the alternative I played with for a bit was Sonique, that one apparently has faded away.

I was talking to one member here about a new build but I think I missed yours; what cpu/mobo you going with?

My parts are still in their box in the closet for the time being :bananadead:

The library part was ok for me. I had trouble getting it to be stable with video plugins. I wasn't a fan of QuickTime or RealPlayer.

God... RealPlayer and its constant buffering caused me so much rage back in the day.

    Yeah.
RealPlayer was a virus. QuickTime was annoyingly Apple.
