7 years. HA. And there is an Easter Bunny and a Santa Claus.
    Seven years... LOL ...

In perfect conditions regularly cleaned yea well it might go 7 years -
In Phoenix - I'll give it 3 years max.... and that's pushing it.

Mine went 18 months before my truck was REALLY struggling to start. Half the year at my station in Tonto Basin, couple months in Phoenix area, and the rest down by the border. My battery sees prolonged exposure to 115+ and below freezing temperatures throughout the year.

In my experience, getting a 2 or 3 year replacement battery at a place like SAMs Club is a good deal, and if you can get 3 to 4 years you’re lucky. Cold Winter and hot Summer conditions are battery killers regardless. As soon as I sense a delay when starting, I’m off to the store to get a new one. The Tacoma OEM lasted 3 years for me.

They may be manufactured by the same company but that doesn't mean they are of the same quality.

Same as oil filters. They are manufactured to a price point. Fram uses an outside manufacture and has filtered made for them that are both the best, and the worst, on the market. Both made by the same company. Same with WIX, ac Delco, etc. Many made by the exact same company but manufactured to different specifications.

Heat is the real enemy of batteries. For folks that live in hot areas, their batteries will not last as long. When I lived in FL, about 3.5 year was all I could get before a cell would pop on a lead acid battery. The further north you go, the longer the average battery life is. So, it is entirely possible you could get 5 - 7 years before failure in a cooler climate.

Are you refuting my claim or are you just trying to marginalize my input.

Claiming that because it is the same manufacture this it has to be of the same design is just as subjective of a statement.

    Reserected from the dead.
    Easy now.

I think " opinion" might be a better word.

No need to get worked up, we all knew what he meant.

My battery is on the end of its life. Is Costco still a good quality and warranty to use? Weighting my options.

I would look to a US manufactured battery such as EastPenn.

I run a Deka Intimidator battery manufactured by EastPenn. They sell at independent battery dealers in most cities.

I got my truck on 3/2017 still on the OEM
Oil change at the dealer yesterday, they told me battery tested bad. No problems yet but am going to replace with a Costco Interstate before it gets cold..

I'm still on my original battery and in Feb it will be 7 years old, truck was purchased early 2016 and it has 73k miles on it.

I will be replacing it soon but I haven't had any issues with starting in this time. The truck is driven daily and my work commute is 40 miles round trip. I also don't have any electrical mods or additional loads installed. My FOBs can still be sensed at 50+yards away too.

I've had extraordinary luck with this particular battery as I am usually in the 5 year replace regardless crowd. I've never kept one in a vehicle as long and I tend to hang on to my cars and trucks for awhile.

Don't fall for the "OEM is better" mindset on batteries. I replaced a Civic battery that I bought from the Honda dealer 3 times in 3 years. Even though I got the prorated warranty amount each time I came back for a new one, I ended up not wanting to deal with the hassle anymore and just bought an Advanced Auto battery the last time the Honda branded battery died, and have been going strong ever since (over 3 years now).

If you keep the battery maintained with distilled water and don’t discharge/overcharge below/above a certain point and replenish the acid every few years it could last longer then that and they regularly do.

I used to work for AAA selling Interstate batteries in So Cal. Have lived in Virgina, Texas, Illinois, Hawaii. My conclusion, 3-5 years on a lead acid battery is the limit. On my 96 Ranger with limited electronics I could get 5-7, no idea what this new Tacoma will hold. This is the newest car I have ever owned.
