I have to correct myself. The dealer I bought the Rally from was a KTM/Husky dealer .....but I've got 3 Honda dealers within 50 miles of Auburn :D

IDK why but the stars are just a little too much for me. If they took out the star designs, and left the rest of it, it'd be amazing.

I did want a lower sportbike at first. Now that I'm riding a bigger one, I think I would go for a different style of riding for a lower CC engine (that isn't a 600 SS). Idk, the sport position is meant for speed and spirited riding. If i'm just puttin around town, I don't need such an aggressive position.

I might even buy my XSR back from the guy I sold it to in a year or two, if he still has it and is interested in selling.

I actually placed an order for one thru the Aprilia website back in August. I was working with a dealer in Charlotte. They did not have any in and said it would be about 2 months. The LE Stars and Stripes is the limited edition. It comes with a solo seat and larger windscreen for the extra $500.

The bike has great reviews for the 600 category except reliability. I found stories of leaks and engine failure on brand new bikes. Between the reviews and the wait I got a bit antsy and came across the GSx-R. Of course 1 week after I got the GSX-R the RS shows up. Dealer has 2 last I checked but both black. The lava red is gorgeous too.

I'll always have a soft spot for the gixxers. What I started with as far as sportbikes.

I lost a trace on my heated seat :pout:

Terrible timing, it finally got cold out, guess I'll spend the $22 and get a replacement, but I'm really not looking forward to taking my seat cover off again.

I think the only sub 500cc sport bike that I would consider is the KTM RC390. I don't know what it is about that one, but it looks agile and fun to ride.

My 390 Duke (basically just a fairing difference) was a blast to ride around town and up and down the windy canyons we have here in Utah. Just upgrade the cooling fans, because they run quite hot.

I bought one Italian bike back in 1987, a Cagiva Allaura Supersport. Beautiful machine, incredible paint, just drop dead gorgeous bike. Provided you didn't want to actually RIDE it. Issues with the carbs, issues with front forks, only one dealer within a reasonable drive from where I lived. Zero parts stocked in the US.

Owned it less than 6 months and took a healthy loss getting rid of it. Ridden a few Ducatis and Moto Guzzi since then and while I've enjoyed them I'm just not sure I'm wanting to actually own one ever again. I have a friend with a Ural and while the sidecar thing looks like fun and he's talking about ordering a new one for when he retires I just can't see it.

The looks of the Italian/European bikes are great.....but reliability is a must for me. I'm a home mechanic at best

I Picked it up and had to return it to the dealer just 3 days later to get the carbs worked on. Apparently back then for shipment by boat they sprayed the crap out of the carbs with Cosmoline and they just sucked so bad. Immediately had them rebuilt, rejetted for pod air filters.

I've been happy with them since the Z50R :D
I know things happen, but that would have put a bad taste in my mouth.
