I just checked discount tire. It looks like there are plenty of good options in the OEM 16 inch size.:notsure:

Edit: just checked 265/75/16 also, and there are a bunch of good options, also.

It's not as horrible as it sounds, I just was an idiot and had my window down during the recovery LOL. Also water did get in the cab on the passenger side, just like an inch or an inch and a half from the plastic kick plate is wet so I popped the plate up and I have the Milwaukee fan blowing on the carpet with the windows down.

Seems like you could use a nice set of mud tires. :boink:

Edit: The time I got stuck in the mud on the camping trip a couple years ago was pretty embarrassing as well. No need to feel ashamed. At least you didn't do it while a bunch of other trucks were following you!

:D it's just the fact that it wasn't a hard fought battle or anything. I literally just slid like 3 feet and was instantaneously high centered. No big geysers of mud, no full throttle in reverse and then forward. Just spontaneous stuckification.

Similar situation. I tried to straddle the ruts and just creep through. Slid right in and couldn't get any traction.

I prefer to keep some momentum in mud, but a lot of the holes on the Pipeline have rocks in them. So, you have to weigh out the risk of getting stuck VS breaking something.

Yeah that's why I didn't come flying in either, I would rather be stuck than coming in hot breaking things.

I try and just avoid the mud, but that has proven to have it's own consequences :anonymous:

There are good options, just less of them. More for 17". Also you can't clear big brakes unless you go up to 17.

    I know. I wish I could fit 16's on the 4Runner.

But, don't the Tacos all come with the smaller brakes?

What tires can not be bought in 16-in sizes? Looking at what results I found, I didn't notice anything missing that I would want. I didn't look at MT options, though. But, I can't imagine performance tire manufacturers are going to stop making real off-road tires just because one size of wheel is less popular than it used to be.

Yeah they come with smaller brakes that fit 16's. I upgraded to the T4R bigger brakes which as you already know require 17's. One of the best bang-for-buck upgrades in my opinion, especially if you plan to add weight later. I consider it a safety item.

Do you have to have the ABS system Recalibrated since you are now modifying the brakes?

    Or, am I overthinking this?
