I've passed on that and their triple mash several times because I think it'll just be a letdown after SBBP.

I do want to try the 10 year though and would love to get ahold of a Coy Hill.

I just got a triple mash, definitely not as good to me. I liked the bonded better, but neither are as good as the barrel proof stuff I’ve had.
To me the 2020 barrel proof rye is still the best.
Haven’t had the 10 yet. Coy Hill was good but a little too hot for me honestly.

This type of experience is exactly why I was so reluctant to buy the single barrel barrel strength. Lucky someone I know let me have a taste to make up my mind. Instantly sold.

I'm not even sure I'd drink the Coy Hill, I just want to see what I can melt by holding the bottle near it.

I walked by them 100 times, got the bonded, figured it would be a safer bet..........its not bad, just not worth the dollar

good news, coy hill is down from 800 to about 500. the 10 year is not worth it at all, $5 more expensive than barrel proof (and coy hill msrp) and not even close

I have both open, PM me we can swap some samples

that rye is probably top 3 to ever cross my lips, have one left in the bunker, gonna be a special day

It’s worth that that much now. Holy shit I had 6 in my possession at one time.

I’d sell my bottle for that much all day long who wants to buy or trade!!!

I died a little tonight and thought this group might get it. Out with a couple of customers and one guy who is big on Irish whiskey but doesn't know many bourbons. So we go to a bar with a pretty good selection. Start him off with Angels Envy. He likes that one ok. Then to an Elijah Craig Small Batch. Didn't care for that one and didn't finish it.

Bartender says we just opened a bottle of Blanton's if you're interested so I say absolutely wanting to end the night on a high note. She brings them out and he pours the blanton's into the unfinished Elijah Craig! According to another customer with us I audibly yelped as he did it. Needless to say we finished up pretty quick and left after that.

Guess I didn't pick up that he was done and not interested in trying anything else :(

    I dunno dude.

Blanton's is a prized collector bottle, but as a drinking whiskey I'd give it a 6/10. Above average, good, worth the MSRP $60 price tag.

The JD Barrel Proof we've been flogging in here tonight absolutely annihilates it... and it's a very findable $70 bottle. There's lots of stuff $40-$70 that makes a better dram.

    Just my $.o2

To be fair, a pour of Blanton’s is easily $20, probably $30 adjusted for inflation. My eye would probably twitch a bit if someone poured it into another bourbon…especially if I bought for them to try.

Since it’s a customer, I’d pay the tab and cuss their stupidity later. Probably on this thread lol.

Oh I agree there's better out there. But to mix completely different whiskies is just.. I dunno, feels wrong. It's not like he was making 1915 or something.
