Welcome to TW and the +50 thread.
Lengthy answers and you started off shaky with a lot of thought on your hot dogs but you finished strong.:boink:

    Good evening all,

Congrats Dewayne on the straight day shift and getting to work with a good crew.

Years ago I was told that who you work with and who you work for is more important than shifts or off days. I believe it, after having to work with some slackers and working for some bipolar/schizophrenic bosses over the past 33 years.

Glad that you’re heading home Chuck, Hopefully your meds are sorted out so you don’t have anymore BP issues. Take it easy.

I was taking Mechanical Engineering at a community college in 83-84. got hired by RRD. back then you had to know someone there to even get an application and had to take an hour long mechanical and math aptitude test. got hired. been there ever since. Now days if you can drive to work and not get lost they hire you.and they wonder why we dont run numbers like we use to

In all my years we always had good crews and no matter who came and went we exceled. but the one bottle neck on the crew the last 2 yrs.has drained me. management knows but are scared to fix problem. told them to quit asking me why we dont run budget till they fix it.well, the bottleneck is going to straight nites. good luck to that bunch cause were gonna be the crew i know we can be. after all these yrs. i still take pride in pumping it out. when you do ,management wont bother you.they worry bout the slacker crews. the most motivated ive been in 2 yrs.

I'm absolutely overwhelmed at trying to figure out what type of hardware to use to bond the 2x10's into a "solid" beam. Nails or deck screws, straight in on one side or staggered and nailed or screwed from both sides, ring shank or spiral shank, straight box or common... every website I visit has the "only" answer that matters. There's no guide lines in the material from the county for even bonding the joist beams into a solid structure.

A couple of rear window decals...
I would use a tube of Liquid Nail applied liberally between the boards and then use 3.5" deck screws from either side to stick them together.

I quit using nails to put things together; they have too much of a tendency to work loose over time.
