Oh, yeah duh. Thank you. I think I still need pins 6 and 7 from the switch(is it possible/safe to plug this into both relays?) And what about pin 4? Just says ground. Is that ground for the turn signal switch or the entire OEM relay?

Yeah it's still there, just disconnected 1L and 1M, put a jumper that I ordered from Toyota on 1M and the smart tap on 1L. Makes so much sense about the trailer since the relay and by extension IR1/trailer lights do nothing now.

4 is ground for DRL/Turn relay.
By removing the 1L there's no tie to the function of the OEM DRL/Turn relay.
By removing 1M and placing the junction block the front turn lamps only get juice from the "Smart relay" which doesn't have DRL.
To get the towing Stop & TURN you would need a connector to share the steering wheel turn select (ground) wires and the "Smart Relay". Also power, ground, Hazards. Signal output wires should not be shared by the relays.

    Something similar to this:
    upload_2022-10-28_1-24-24.jpg
    Hazard wire shared
    Power wire shared
Turn select (Left & Right) shared
    Ground shared
I haven't verified if the signal for turns are "T" inside the OEM relay. If they are then no need to share the turn select wires, the hazard wire and the power wire. You would then share the signal wire from the LED relay so that the OEM can combine it with stop when necessary. Gray wire to OEM relay is fused towing power to the interior towing combiner.

Yeah! Like that, this is pretty much what I had in mind, thank you for drawing it up. The led flasher is pressure fit so I just need to harvest the BECU side from a junkyard and re-pin to connect to this harness. I can daisy chain the OEM flasher from that contraption pretty easy.

Not sure what you mean here with the "T" part here? Can you explain?

I'm thinking that the pins on the OEM relay that provide the turns are tied to the towing converter (part of the Hazard/DRL/Turn relay) without any issues. To mean that if the pins are energized by the Smart Relay instead of the OEM relay no short/burn would occur.

I could not find this connector on my own and you just casually drop it in. We do not deserve your brilliance.

There's another solution, using an '05~'10 towing combiner tied to the turn signals of the Smart Relay. De-pin the wires of the T20 (OEM relay) for fuse towing, combined stop n turn output, ground and stop input and insert into connector to towing combiner.

You're talking about what T8 plugs into on that other post of yours? "Towing converter relay" I thought about that but didn't know if it would work? I guess I'm going to the older style on everything else so maybe that would be easier?

You'd have the Smart Relay providing control to front, mirrors and rear lamps.

Terminal #16 is the only one that requires to change to a 2.3II type terminal to fit into connector T8@#8.

I have the plug from hi-1000ec, still need to source the towing converter and some pins and make some time to get it it done.

I have not forgotten about this. Now more urgent since I have to do springtime truck things that require a trailer. I just ordered the towing converter today and I will update with photos once it's done.

In other news, I'm on 33's and TRD wheels now so that's cool

It's finished! I don't have a trailer to actually test with at the moment but I used a multimeter on the plug and it did what it was supposed to, and all of the functions of the smart tap are working :D

DM your venmo/cashapp so I can buy you some beers my guy. This is awesome. Couldn't have done it without you.

The finished harness and associated mess. I deleted 1M since it was doing literally nothing. The new (old?) towing combiner is smaller than the stock unit but it mounted nicely with a single tab from my stock bracket.
    20230509_171824.jpg

This thing is such a freaking mess to work with. Here's the harness mostly installled before plugging in IR1 and flipping it back into place.
    20230509_173331.jpg

Final product as if you are lying down under the steering wheel. Our harness actually puts the smart tap in a much more convenient location for when it burns out down the road. I didn't have any electrical tape on hand but that's the next step is to wrap up the extra wires, wanted to put it back in and make sure it worked first. And it totally does, again, thank you so much
