When it rains fairly heavy it sounds like the speakers a popping. Is that fairly common? Im assuming rain is making its way passed the seals. Thanks.

    Can you explain this better.

    Rain getting past what seals?
    The speakers are popping?

It sounds like a popping sound. I can’t tell if it’s coming from the speakers. It only happens when it rains.

Yes. That’s why I think water is getting inside the door. I wasn’t sure if this is common. I stopped today to get gas and was parked under an over hang. The noise almost went away.

Hmm.. I'm pretty sure there's no power going to the speakers when the stereo is off, but I could be wrong

Might be your drain tubes "burping". Not sure what to do about that aside from checking for blockages

Where would the drain tubes be located?

Interesting topic, wish I had the answer. I think what you are describing is a noise that has bugged the hell out of me since we bought our Tacoma in 2005. Definitely nothing to do with speakers, and it only happens when it's raining. I always assumed it was aerodynamics directing water toward the rear windows. It's a fairly sharp snapping sound, reminds me a bit of making popcorn. Double cab 4x4, short bed with a hard tonneau.

Rain on the (apparently uninsulated) roof is another matter altogether. Sounds like you're inside a giant tin can. Our old 1995 Grand Cherokee was so well insulated with excellent sound damping by comparison.

How about with the stereo on? Pull the radio fuse to see if noise continues.

Thanks. It does it with the stereo on and off. Now there’s no rain there no noise, lol.

Puzzling. Does the noise stop immediately when the rain stops? Wipers on off have any affect? Any work done just prior to the onset of the problem? Window and door seals leaking? Is it all speakers?

The only connection to the outside would be the antenna. Maybe the connection is rusty or loose?
