Per the last democratic fundraiser email we'll all be flooded out from climate change by then.

    Is there a pontoon option?

Around that time the Toyota BEV truck should be able to be ordered.

Is it though ? Toyota can’t even make a pos electric cross over yet. I’d venture it’s probably 2025 at the earliest

They made one already. They're on the roads.

The one that had the stop sale recall ? And that’s worse than most other Evs on the market?

Towed my trailer from where I live during the work week to my weekend spot. Other than sucking down the juice the Rivian couldn’t care that it’s towing 7000lbs. I’ve made this trip twice now and the truck is stable, handles the weight well on acceleration, turns and stopping and is an overall nearly perfect tow experience. The mirrors could definitely be larger or have a convex section for better visibility and the backup camera still sucks elephant dick for hooking up a trailer.

On 50amp campground hookups the included portable charger maxes out at its highest rating of 32amps and charges at 8kw/14miles an hour.

I have a feeling that the max pack is never going to exist. There must be some flaw with the design, like it physically can’t fit or something.

GM’s sales of the Bolt and Bolt EUV are up 226% after lowering Bolt/EUV prices. The Rivian lead time is > 1 year, the Rav4 Prime PHEV waiting list is > 1 year. Every Tesla made sells easily even after multiple price increases in last 2 years.

bZ4X seems to be languishing after the recall. Yet this week there are reports that Toyota is both rethinking their EV strategy and considering upping the production of the bZ4X in 2025. The iForce Max Tundra’s appear to be sold out as well.

It seems to me Toyota is reading the chicken bones and tea leaves that they need to lean in more.

I’m not sure why they have not figured it out - build more of the power train with the most go. It also happens to get the best mileage.

I suspect Rivians, F150 lightnings, Teslas, iForce Max trucks and even the R4P will continue to be in demand.

The R4P has been a hot commodity since it came out, it is astounding to me Toyota hasn’t responded to the demand. They missed the opportunity to lead the market like they did a decade ago with the Prius.

I’ll bet the RX500H will have a waiting list. Too bad the Lexus face is so ugly. The rest of the RX volume will be plodders sold to retired folks.

What does that equal in range?
Things like the backup camera make it seem like the designers never owned a truck before.

I think they just assumed that like typical F150 owners, this would be used as a passenger car.

Right about 100 miles at the energy usage. That’s with a fair amount of stop and start driving and a long hill climb right before getting to the campsite. With normal driving the truck seems most efficient when just cruising so I’d assume the same holds true when towing, in which case the range would probably stretch closer to 125-140 miles.

The backup camera design team has definitely never hitched a trailer before, at least not by themselves where you rely on the camera to simplify the process. I have to get in and out 5-6 times in order to get the ball and tongue lined up right.

That really sucks about the backup camera. Hitching up a trailer is the best thing about having a camera. I can back my Tacoma up to my boat trailer perfectly in one shot with the camera.

The quad motor + Max Pack has the most expensive BOM and with the pre-March 2022 preorder pricing it also has the smallest profit margin. I think this is a move to get those preorders off of the books so they can sell the Max packs at max profit margin. It definitely has me thinking…

A fairly normal day drive with a mix of residential streets and 75mph freeway. Works out to a 296 mile range if the average usage holds up.
