I have 0 qualms with the shifter and the clutch. I personally think it’s a super easy and satisfying to drive manual

No worries, glad I could help. It is an easy install as well. I had the hurst core shifter in my 2nd gen and went with it again in my new 3rd gen. I haven’t tried the b&m however I wouldn’t hesitate to give it a try.

I did a local search and found one within 500 miles. Then I expanded my search to nationwide Off-Road or Sport and found several in Illinois. It took 2 days to wrap up the deal and I flew in today to pick it up. Got $2,900 off MSRP with a $324 doc fee nothing else plus 2.49% for 48 months. Lunar Rock Off-Road Premium, LED, Advanced tech pkg.

There is another manual 2023 showing up but it’s pending sale near Chicago. Good luck!

I had deposits in with (4) dealers in different states. After a 2 month search, I got extremely lucky that a truck I inquired about previously was backed out by a customer and they offered it to me. Drove 7 hours north to go get it and best buying experience out of any purchase, and it was for MSRP. I would recommend you use the inventory spreadsheet or cars.com/autotrader and filter by manual transmission and start making calls. DO NOT limit yourself to local dealers only -as you will need to cast your net in a much wider cast.

Better be safe and do it this year. Nobody knows when 4th gen turbo 4cyl arrives and if it'll have manual option available or not.

I’d be willing to bet that there won’t be a manual in the 4th gens…..

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. After Toyota sent me the questionnaire after I bought my '22 AC 6MT, their final question of: What was the main reason for your purchase of your Tacoma? I had to type in the response as it wasn't included within the 30 other choices, so I typed in capital letters: MANUAL TRANSMISSION. Hoping that marketing sent that information over to engineering department.

I’m sure they do. It’ll just depend if they get enough interest among other things

Not many for their daily commute. I know loads of people who would always choose a manual transmission for a sports car, would choose an automatic for a truck.

There are plenty of dealers doing MSRP in the Bay Area, as well as a very big one in the Los Angeles metro region. The challenge would be the wait.

Ordered a Pro, Mag Grey, MT at the end of August last year. It took 356 days. It was worth the wait, fortunately I wasn't in a big hurry. Part of the delay was caused by the fact that I ordered from a dealer that was selling at MSRP with no "market adjustment" or other BS fees added. They were getting a fair amount of business, so I wasn't first in line.

I'm in the west (ut), and already put deposits down at the two biggest dealers. They are both strictly MSRP...

I suppose I can keep checking the surrounding states, but would rather buy one locally. When buying out of state, would I have to pay the sales tax and state fees in both states?

I don’t believe that is true…..as I did not. I mentioned before I bought mine (6spd) out of New Mexico. I only paid my Illinois taxes. I initially found a Pro just over the Illinois border into O’Fallon Missouri that I put a deposit on but it was an auto…..I wasn’t going to pay Missouri taxes either had I bought that one.

It is a pretty common story; if you want a 6MT, especially if you are picky (like me) regarding the color and options, be prepared to wait six to twelve months. In my case I put a deposit down on a 2022 TRD Sport DCSB 6MT in February, I requested Blue Crush Metallic paint along with the Premium, LED, and Advanced Tech packages; yeah, a unicorn. In August my sales associate told me he'd gotten an allocation for the exact technical build I'd requested, the only difference was the paint color, the allocation was for a Barcelona Red Metallic truck; I told him to grab the allocation. Long story short, deposit in February, allocation in August, delivery in October.

Man the more I think of it, the luckier I feel. I searched out of state as I mentioned before. Found an auto Pro auto in Missouri I put a deposit on. Just before it came in 3 weeks later, I found the 6spd in New Mexico. Got my deposit back and sent it to them in New Mexico and waited 1 month for that one to come in. The they sent it to me.

Fortunately I was in no rush; my previous car, a 2006 Acura TL 6MT, was an absolute joy to drive right up to the day I traded the old girl in. The dealership I purchased from had already sold my wife and I several cars, and each buying experience has been among the best in a long life of purchasing vehicles. I called them up, told them what I wanted, agreed to pay MSRP (when every other dealership in my area was charging $7,000+ for TRD Sport and TRD Off Road, and $15,000+ for TRD Pro models), gave them a deposit, and got set to wait. They contacted me roughly twice per month while I was waiting, and then BINGO, we got the allocation. :)

~6 months Octoberish to late February at Mountain States Toyota. Totally worth it. They build them one month out of every quarter iirc. Example: they build them in September/October and I missed that build date so I had to wait until q1.

That definitely had something to do with it. Most of the manual TRD Tacomas are Sport models. OR manuals are hard to come by. I met a member a few weeks ago who was rocking an OR manual.
