Took me one day. Pure luck. found one available on dealer website. Made the deal & picked it up in a day. I was very fortunate.

i paid a deposit in December or January and was expecting to wait 6-12 months but i wasn't in a hurry. i need a 6 foot bed so a TRD Sport AC was the only option. i would have been fine with an SR5 had they come with a MT and 6 foot bed.

dealer called late march and said they had a truck similar to what i wanted, that someone backed out of. fortunately, i was free that afternoon and went and purchased the truck. i got lucky, i guess. it has nav and heated seats, whatever tech package that is, which was not what i wanted. the port also installed sill protectors, mud flaps, and bed lights, which i really didn't want either.

a few months later when i was at the dealer for the 5K mile check-up, i noticed a white TRD sport AC with a MT on the lot. it had no factory or port options, which was my original request. at the time of order/deposit my 3 color options were silver, grey, and white. i got a silver truck and after seeing the white in person, i am glad to have the silver instead.

The only MT available in Canada is a DCSB Sport.

Wow it sure does, I stand corrected! I 100% thought it was DCSB only going back to the 2nd gen days.

The numbers from one of the more recent KissMyGrits inventory spreadsheets suggest the following:
    • 50 out of 779 -- 6.42% -- TRD Sport models is a 6-Speed Manual
    • 20 out of 454 -- 4.41% -- TRD Off Road models is a 6-Speed Manual
    • 38 out of 72 -- 52.78% -- TRD Pro models is a 6-Speed Manual
From my perspective at least, the only reason why TRD Sport models are more available with a 6-Speed Manual is Toyota makes more of them them than the other two TRD models combined. That said, from a percentage basis, the TRD Pro rules when it comes to having three pedals under the dash.

I just pulled the KissMyGrits inventory spreadsheet from today and here are the new numbers:
    • 87 out of 594 -- 6.83% -- TRD Sport models is a 6-Speed Manual
    • 160 out of 340 -- 47.06% -- TRD Off Road models is a 6-Speed Manual
    • 9 out of 56 -- 16.07% -- TRD Pro models is a 6-Speed Manual

The previous spreadsheet was dated 02-Oct-2022, the latest from today is essentially four week later; I was stunned at the huge swing in the numbers.

I spent about a week looking for a new one and finally found a 2016 TRD OR manual with 100K on it that I was able to get for $30K. Still shook my head as pre-covid, a 6 year old truck with a 100K miles on it would be $15K, but it is what it is. I figured I can fix/upgrade/replace everything on the truck twice if I want to and still come out ahead with the $20K I saved over buying new.

I drove an auto for a couple days and all it did was piss me off. The manual is a whole lot of fun...but I have to remember that I'm not in my X-runner anymore...this thing doesn't stick quite as well in the corners lol.

But the would involve the ever-unsavory task of having to go to Texas.

That is surprising. Does this data cover all of the TRD's sold in 2022? Or is there a complete dataset for 2021? I would think that most OR's would be auto since the manuals do away with crawl control and MTS features. These are selling points for the OR.

Pssht. Manual transmission is crawl control. From some of the reviews/YouTube of that I’ve seen with that I would be embarrassed to use it anyway. I’m shocked that almost half the OR are manual. Makes me feel a little less special.

Interesting. In my hunt for my Pro 6spd, I came across 4. Only the one I bought was available and not spoken for. 1 out east in Massachusetts, 2 out west in Cali, and mine in the southwest.

I'm not entirely sure what data is covered, I ran across the KissMyGrits link on a different thread here; I *think* it covers all inventory both on lots and enroute; but please don't quote me on that; it's just a guess.

What I've divined from several threads here is manual transmission Tacoma's have their own version of crawl control; leave/turn the engine off, put the truck in 4-LO, press the Clutch Start Cancel button and then engage the starter. Please understand I've never done this myself; I'm just reporting what I've read.

Regarding the different percentages of manuals; look at the previous report; the two are VERY different regarding the percentages of manuals by model.

You're close but they're two different things - the CSC uses the starter to move the truck forward without having to use the clutch pedal to start the engine and move the truck. It's a handy thing to have in stick shifters when you're in a nose-up-high situation and don't want to roll the truck backwards. Crawl Control on the autos modulates the brakes to adjust each wheel where needed to get better traction.

They had a black TRD Pro manual available 2 weeks after I put down my deposit but because I was dead set on white I waited 8 months.

Just today I put my deposit down on a 2023 TRD Pro 6MT in Solar octane. This is a verified allocation not a “wished for order”. My 2021 TRD OR DCSB 6 MT was totaled in June and I decided to wait for the 2023’s. My TRD OR was a loaded unicorn which would be too hard to duplicate in today’s market and I want exactly what I want, so the Pro was the easier route, given that all my TRD OR options are standard on the Pro. It is due to be built week of Nov. 7th. I will provide details as the next several weeks unfold. I do not expect to take delivery until December if all goes well, otherwise later.
