A little related to this, I don’t think many TVs have 1Gbit (1000Mbit), connections because they don’t need it. Most have only 100Mbit. Standard HD streaming will max out at 4.5Mbit, 4K at 25Mbit, and 8K at around 48Mbit. All are well below a 100Mbit. I will admit the the TV manufactures are cheap. It’s only about $5 more to put in a 1GBit port than a 100Mbit.

I do wish ALL electronic equipment would include a cheap ($10 more) Ethernet switch built in. Maybe with 2-4 ports. That way you could run a wire to your TV and then take off from the TV to a something else like a DVR, audio receiver, DVD, etc.

Geeze... I just thought of something. I haven't bought TV equipment for so long that it's all new to me. Will the new TVs have ports for me to hook up my VHS/DVD player? I'll bet they don't. Are there any kind of adapters available? I'm betting not. The old Magnavox will be obsolete and so will the DVDs unless I can buy a new remote player that hooks up to the new TV. I'm betting that nothing new will play VHS.

Travlr, There is an adapter for everything. My favorite place to get them is Monoprice.com. They have everything you'll every need. Your new TV will have HDMI for sure. HDMI carries digital video and audio all in one cable. For the analog signals of older equipment use Component (3 colored cables), s-video (single round connector with 4 pins), or composite (one video cable) in that order for best to worse. Of course you'll have separate L/R audio cables. There are adapters that will convert your analog outputs from DVRs, VCRs, cameras, etc. to HDMI.

Good luck. You'll get everything to work. There is always a way.

    Afternoon all:
A welcome to the new guys on the porch, fill up the cooler and join in.

My mind says I'm still young Ken, my body says different!
My buddy's grandson got a small buck this morning and there are three of us that are beat. Thank goodness for our deer buggies or we would still be trying to drag it out or have a heart attack while trying, think it's time to start hunting within sight of the truck!!!

Morning Carl (AM down under and PM back home) Glad the young fellow got one. Sort of puts the pressure on you older folk to get one .
One of the neighbors up country sufferscfrom agent orange and has many issues but still loves to hunt. There is access to a field on our property that he drives his truck up to his stand. If he gets one the rest of the crew comes by and helps him out. No need dragging one out when you have your truck handy:D. Good luck and enjoy but be safe.

Haven't played cribbage in ages. Always liked the game but then the missus figured it out and whipped my butt...not much fun after that...
