So, I actually might not, now that you say this. Well. That's a lie. I'm booked after Christmas but just had a whole brain fiasco that realized it would be before Christmas for obvious reasons, and not after. I have some stuff in December but I'll be there.

Back home! Got shafted on the gas prices  I stopped in NJ and forgot about the whole can't pump your own. Paid a shade over 4 going through NY instead. Got to CT and the highway side was 3.7x or something. Ah well. Home now, was only a couple bucks and made it an easy on off splash and dash. 12 hours seat time according to google, left at 8:45 this morning and pulled into the drive at 10:45 ish with a last fuel stop in Seekonk.

Ask around at small claims court. That’s what I would do.

Back to thermostats. Someone asked what my goal is. It's relatively simple. I want to set the heat to come on and turn off at specific times without having to remember to do it. I'd prefer not to have to pull wires, hence my interest in battery powered thermostats.

Two zones, one upstairs, one downstairs.

I have an HVAC guy, so I can always ask him to do the work, but before I do I'd like to have an idea of what is required.

Just pulled wires at my house today and didn’t have too much trouble but our basement is a disaster so that helped. The Nest E however had two batteries inside so it might not require a C wire? Let somebody smarter than me chime in

I'm thinking more along the lines of a programmable Luz or Honeywell that isn't connected to the internet. My wife mentioned a Nest, however since I call her iPhone her "Jitterbug" I don't know that she'll be able to figure that out.

My basement is unfinished, so pulling wires is no problem. I just don't know where to pull the 24volts on the boiler end. I had to have the original control panel replaced and they aren't that cheap.

I have a light that is controlled by two switches. But the switches aren’t wired right I’ll get to it one of these days.

I have a couple of three way switches in my house. I replaced one set a few years ago and it drove me nuts. I don't know if the NEC was different then, but the electrician wired it backwards. Took me over an hour to figure that out and to get the lights working as they should.

I've come to discover that electricians take whatever shortcuts they can get away with on new construction. I ended up tracing every circuit in my house to figure out what breakers covered what parts of the house. I have a spread sheet with all of the circuit breaker numbers and what they control.

I think I have them all correct.

My wife mentioned that Nat. Grid is either giving them away or selling them cheap.

    :( I don't but I'm sorry you're dealing with shenanigans.

Honestly programming a nest or Honeywell (I've done those I'm sure the other "smart" ones are similar) is 1000x easier than the wall ones with like two buttons that you have to press in the right sequence and blah blah blah. I had one of those and it was a fight and a half.

The nests are super easy. I'm sure you guys are gonna cringe at what I need to keep the house at haha
