Other modifications to the truck impacted mpgs more than the tune, if any. I would suggest discussing it with @BortisYeltzen directly - Barrett's a great guy and a good source of information.

This is purely anecdotal but the one maintenance job that made the biggest impact on my mpg’s was the big 3 upgrade. I completely underestimated how much the alternator impacts engine performance.

Anybody have a set of aftermarket fender flares for a short bed 2nd gen Taco that you could sell? Or the left rear original?

Well another trip to Moab in the books. And to quote my wife “That was really lame wasn’t it?” And the answer is yes.

    26EC15A6-BC94-431F-AFBA-15AAA6D8D844.jpg

We had reservations to camp an few nights in Canyonlands, but she had a work trip pop up so we changed plans and ran the Rimrocker Trail from Montrose to Moab.

And to be honest it was quite bland. Lots of really easy trails, some pavement. And the end towards Moab was super bone-rattling rocky and over grown. There are prettier trails in the Uncompagre, and probably 100 more scenic trails in Moab.

We ran it. And found a cool camp spot, but I will not be running that trail again, nor actually even recommend it to anyone.

These two were the highlight of the trip

Otherwise it was fine but not amazing.

Getting out isn’t the worst thing a person can do.

Truly. But, getting out to something amazing or dramatic or scenic as fuck is better. Call me fussy. But San Juan’s? Many other amazing colorado off-roading? Most other moab trails? Bluff/cedar mesa? The San Rafael swell? Canyonlands? All cooler.

The list goes on and on.

    A piebald deer???

That alone was worth the trip. Getting a picture of it even moreso. I'm jealous.

Are there any decent shell/topper dealers in the SLC area? I’m debating on adding one to my truck but I need to get some measurements of how they mount before I tackle it.

I had a good experience at Sam T Evans a few years back. I ended up getting the Leer 180. It was a good shell.

Big three is basically upgrading the charging system by getting more amps to the battery. If you have lots of electrical accessories then it’ll make up that difference.

Whether you need to “upgrade” anything or not, what’s important is just making sure the battery is getting what it needs. It blew my mind when I saw the impact that had on my mpg’s.

Ah. Good to know. I think I saw that as an option in the tune. I’ll make sure to ask about it.

Truly. But I can think of 15 other weekend off-roading camping trips I have taken this year that were more fun and more scenic.

Most topper dealers don't keep much stock on hand, so they might not have the one you need.

I've got a leer topper on my DCSB if I can measure anything for you.

I’m mostly interested in how wide the u shape piece that mounts onto the bed rails. I have to build a mount for my truck and I’m not sure how wide to make the plate. I’m thinking 2” is probably good enough. Really I need that entire profile so I build it and get it ready. Dealing with the actual shell mfg’rs is a waste as they either never get back me or refer me to a dealer. That’s why I was thinking of stopping by and seeing if they could tell me or had some pull where they could get specs.
