That's me, carving the first pumpkin of the new millennium, exactly 22 years ago!

 

Mmmmm, Huntresses....

 

Jules is autistic and hates wearing masks, but she saw the painting respirator I've been using as a prop and wanted to wear it. Unlike Anna, she was not in a rush to take it off, and now she wants of her own to go with her "scary doctor" costume!

 

IMO there's a mental difference between having the choice or not in some cases..among other things, I totally get the sensory issue you mentioned of course.

 

I've also got some epic pictures of all-autistic team of zombie hunters and huntresses posing in the back of the truck! I took those with the Nikon though, and will be posting tomorrow because I am so tired!

 

I would also like to thing that I helped Jules with her sensory issues. Not one of the women appearing in my pictures has ever worn a reusable painting respirator before, including Michelle, which shocked me because she owns a junkyard and is content with all sorts of noxious fumes on a daily basis.

 

I carved all three Jack-O-Lanterns!

 

The guy on the right lost a couple of teeth during the carving process, but it's nothing a couple of paper clips can't fix!

 

My mom read something online about how pumpkins get their nutrients from the stem, and how carving a hole in the back allows them to last longer without rotting; I decided to try that this year, but I found out that you have to carve just right or else or else there will be issues. I ended up having to use some of the aforementioned paper clips to keep the "service entrances" on two of the three pumpkins closed...

At a cars and coffee in Nazareth yesterday...

 

One of our neighbors has a friend on the local police force, and she called him while I was inside my house for a few minutes; I came back outside and saw a police SUV with its emergency lights on, and immediately thought that had some complained about the DJ being too loud or something. The exact opposite was true. Our neighbor correctly assumed that the kids would love to see a real police car!

 

It's all fun and games until the cops show up!
