4wd hi range acceleration problem

hey yall, ive developed a new problem, whenever im in 4hi, the truck will not accel over 3000rpm, even with the gas all the way down. it just gives up. but if switched to 4lo it will redline all day long if i let it, i dont know why though, this is recent to my truck and has occurred several times in the last week...btw 2002 toyota tacoma, 3.4 v6 at 4x4 with manual hubs

 

Have u tried shifting manually? Like dropping the gearshift all the way to L?

 

no i didnt in 4 hi, i only do that in 4 lo usually

 

Is the problem only in 4hi? What does it do in 2hi?

 

2hi no problem, i can redline it all i want, it is only in 4 hi

 

Try downshifting and see what it does.....

The only thing I can think of, is Toyota could've put some limitations in the computer programming for 4hi to keep your speed down. ?????

 

I dont think there is a limiter. While I have yet to be this stupid, there was somone who bosted going 100+ in 4 hi
