Haha I think it wasn’t near the camp site so much as on close by on the route back home. Surely there’s a gas station not for from the main drag on your way home even if that’s nowhere near your camp

Why would anyone want to be reminded of civilization while camping? Finding a charging station in the woods would be like finding an auto vacum in the woods.

Exactly my favorite campsite is on a pond where there is nothing else on the pond, no little fishing spots. Only game trails and a single campsite.

I’m having a real identity crisis, Rivian has told me that I can switch my order from the R1T to the R1S. R1S delivery would probably be back in my original delivery window of the first half of next year, just based on the “Ocean Coast” interior deliveries not starting yet. Waiting until 2024 is just too long for me.

I guess it comes down to whether you need a bed or more seats.

I don’t really need more seats.

The powered tonneau debacle has me thinking of switching because I do like easy access to covered storage, since in the Pacific Northwest it is almost always wet. I’m waiting to see what is shown at SEMA, maybe ReTrax or another company has a better solution.

I do like the truck bed for wet stuff after paddle boarding and dirty and muddy bikes.

I don’t tow stuff so the additional capability of the R1T doesn’t interest me.

I could just keep my Tacoma, after getting the Rivian too.

You either need a pick up truck or you don’t. Sounds like you probably don’t do truck things if you are even asking this question.

I also already have a truck. It’s the waiting until sometime in 2024 that I don’t need. The Max Pack is vaporware until they actually start testing one and changing their range estimates from “400+” to a specific number. I could wait until almost 2025 and have no Max Pack Rivian R1T at all.

    Best of both worlds.

I wouldn’t make the call based on the tonneau. Wether they fix it to your liking or not, the cost to make it work best for you is negligible vs the functionality of SUV vs Truck and if you’d want to have a one-and-done fleet

In addition to my Tacoma, I would also have my Tesla Model S Plaid and my heavily modified 450hp Subaru OBXT, so the R1S would be like combining my other three vehicles.

The tonneau is pretty bad, I’m not sure how it made it into production. I’ve used mine twice and it makes some noises that make me cringe. I would have thought in the design phase people would notice and maybe say something about it.

I’m not sure which one I have. The truck door sticker shows an 8/22 build month.

I wish I had your problems haha... that Outback sounds awesome

Can't really go wrong either way. The Rivian won't quite be the kick in the pants that the Plaid is, but if it's enough for you, Tacoma + R1S could be the best combo

The V3 is the one that everyone is waiting for that will do both opening AND closing.

Not good but if that's the biggest issue with a new car company Gen 1 vehicle that's not bad. Time will tell when more miles get put on them but like any ICE truck, things rattle and get worn.

Nobody was posting about a taco range in particular. My quote was someone talking about Rivian range. Someone batshit stupid posted about a Rivian saying “As long as you don’t stray too far from a charging station.” For decades there have been countless ICE vehicles that have less range than the Rivian…. And yet the cavemen never felt the need to point out any issues with the lack of range. *Until* new tech came along that scared them, made them uncomfortable, tech they didn’t understand. All the coal powered future fearing members will say “bUt ThErE aRe GaS sTaTiOnS aT tHe TrAiLhEaDs, NoT pLuGs”. Never once have I accessed a trail via gas station property. They’re all a drive away from where I fuel up. If you don’t like electric, man up and say it. Don’t make up figures or arguments that have zero ground. The 10% of use cases it won’t work for don’t invalidate the 90% that it does work for. Lol this is my 4th time unwatching this thread. It’s so funny to see the EV-Phobia manifest itself via fake facts.
