    Thanks!

And congratulations to you as well!

But I don't think I can ever be "too early"

I got the crib earlier this month as well as a few misc items.

The changing station I got the month before.

And months before that we've bought a lot of clothes we found on clearance that we liked; figured the first year the baby will outgrow clothes easily and quickly so why spend a lot.

Next few months will be the stroller and car seats but really I'm just thinking of going this route -

    Doona2018Black4.jpg

Still need a glider/chair, dresser, and a rug.

The rest will come with the baby shower?

Yep the baby showers are great! I know it’s hyped a lot but if you’re looking at strollers or car seats or whatever look at the Nuna brand. It really is awesome stuff

    Huge congrats on the baby!
I’ve got a 1 year old & my advice is to put the Hail Mary ($$) stuff on the shower registry instead of buying it yourself. We got just about everything we put on ours, so the only things left were little nickel & dime items. And that stroller is very convenient but very short. I test drove it when a friend got one. On a good day I’m 6’1” and the handle was below my belt line such that I was leaned over to push it. Not ideal at all. We got the Uppababy system and it truly is a case of you get what you pay for.

Not to derail the home improvement thread lol but this crap is pretty important…

Uppababy was another one we almost got, only went Nuna because we caught a sale. Tested out both brands at the same store and both are awesome.

Finish all those weld projects now. It'll be two years before you get back to them. Congrats!

I installed my first freestanding tub this weekend. Got all the drain piping lined up and tub positioned. The instruction say a bead of caulk around the bottom of the tub, but it has feet so it’s not like “flush” with the floor. My wife also doesn’t want a big bead around the edge of the tub. So what’s the best way to make the tub stay in place?

that’ll work DURING the bath..what about when it’s empty? It’s easily bumped and moved.

Can you put some silicone under the feet of the tub after it's leveled?

Uh no haha. I’m all hooked up and glued to the piping already…maybe that was a mistake…

Empty weight of the tub states 132lbs, are you really concerned about bumps moving the tub? I didnt pull up the install instructions but do they call for RTV or something like liquid nails to be placed between the base and the subfloor? I worry that a bead of silicone around the base of the tub won't provide enough lateral resistance to keep the tub in place. If I were in your shoes, I'd pull the plumbing fixture apart and use something like liquid nails to glue the tub to the floor but what you should really be doing is following what the installation docs recommend. Glue might void your warranty due to improper installation. Please keep us posted as I'm thinking of doing a similar style of free floating tub for my next house.

Edit: Looking at the install video on their website, it looks like they apply a bead of something, possibly RTV/Liquid Nails. Additionally, it looks like they screw the base to the subfloor at the 4 corner locations before adjusting the leveling feet. Granted, this wasn't the specific install video for your tub, but I would presume that they are very similar.

is the floor even? A little late now but i prob would have put some double sided tape or silicone on back side of the tub

Yes the floor is even, but the feet are “below” the tub base. So there is a slight gap between the floor and tub bottom, which is confusing to me why the instructions say a bead around the bottom edge of the tub..

Yeah it’s definitely still moveable with a bump even at that weight. I’ll post some pics tonight I just don’t know what to do.

You'll have to disconnect some of you're plumbing and redo. :smash: There needs to be silicone, liquid nails, ect under the feet of the tub. For tubs without feet a bead can be applied around the bottom edge to hold it in place.

Otherwise, don't bump into it and fill it with water before you dive in.

Does your tub have a split design, like an outer shell and inner tub? If that's the case, then I agree with what @MGMDesertTaco said, Lift the tub out of the shell and glue & screw the shell to the subfloor. If you're going into concrete, you might want to use some tapcons. The tub looks like it should rest directly on the floor and not be elevated at all. You should be able to set your leveling feet parallel to the shell prior to gluing it down using a straight edge.

Here is a picture of the tub. The tub came with no instructions, but online it only mentioned a bead of silicone around the outer edge of the tub. So y’all are saying I need to disconnect the plumbing, flip the tub over, lower the feet “above” the base of the tub, run a bead, and set the tub down? So what’s the purpose of the feet???

I’m absolutely not going that route but just trying to understand it. Any other ways to make the tub more stationary in the state it’s in?
