Wouldn't the feet have been on the subfloor and you would have tiled right up to the side of the tub? Basically hiding the gap?

It’s kinda like our bathroom vanity top, all that holds it on is a bead of silicone (thick bead). Hasn’t moved or shifted in 14 years.

For a vanity top that makes sense, since it has no feet. The tub has feet though…so they should be what’s making contact with the ground…I don’t really want to run a massive fat bead of silicone in this gap lol. I think it would look terrible.

Just looked at the pic closer. I agree, a bead of silicone in that gap would be a big bead.

Until you want to change the tub out and there's no tile under it and you can't find anything that matches.. We run into that kind of scenario all the time on campus.

027DCA8E-55FC-44AB-844B-41D9EA5441CB.jpg They call for a monster bead of silicone to glue it to the floor :bananadead:
I guess you could swap in some adhesive like lexel or something but it would take your floor covering with it if you decide to move it lol

Either or. Silicone goes around the tub base or under the feet to hold it in place. Yes, it will probably take the tile floor with it should you ever need to remove it.

Why not try it out the way it is for now? I doubt you're going to be knocking into it and bumping it around. It looks pretty heavy/solid.

They’s for leveling the tub in case the floor isn’t perfect. The glue keeps it from moving laterally

I assume the feet are just support across the bottom since its supposed to rest/set on the sealant, which once its set in place it will flatten out the sealant

That's for levelling the tub before flipping it and applying the silicone.

Seeing as the tub is in place and plumbed, I would spend some time with painters tape very carefully masking the floor under the shadow line of the tub and the bottom (i assume radius) edge of the tub itself. At this point, fill the tub with water. If the gap is too large for a bead of adhesive sealant to bridge alone, use backer rod and then adhesive sealant, I would choose dark grey or black so it "disappears" under the tub. Once the sealant is tooled smooth, carefully remove the tape (before sealant cures) and don't touch it (or drain the tub) for 12 hours.
I expect that sealant is not just to fix the tub in place but also to prevent any spilled/splashed water from running under the tub, through any plumbing floor penetrations and causing damage below. Capture.jpg

I'd do the adhesive under the feet only (after it's leveled) given the gap size if you intend to go that route.

The feet will go up into the tub, if the floor is level. He has the feet screwed out too far.

If they’d go up into the tub…then why are they there…

I’d say no feet on the tub and use shims if your floor isn’t level. Not feet.

They are there because it's helpful to have minor adjustments without wooden shims that can rot.
