    This is old shit but @Kwikvette is leading an anything welding charge. :transformer: So, thought this may be helpful to someone.

    This is how you take a bunch of bullshit scrap and a harbor freight long ram and save $800 ish minus the 100 ram on a hydraulic bender stand. It’s so backyard it’s cool. To me at least. :cool:

    @koditten

    I mentioned recently I was working on a Pittsburgh Steelers sign for a friend at work. I cut my 2nd revision this evening and it was the winner. I had some letters that didn't cut all the way and drop out, but that has nothing to do with the drawing. I just need to tweak my CAM settings.

    Just gray primer. 15" diameter. He wanted a wall hanger. I assume he will paint it black, and put a yellow (gold?, I'm not an big NFL fan) background for the cutouts.

    Looks great!

    Have you played around with "tabs"?

    I was tired of tip ups and fishing drop outs out if the fluid.

    With adding tabs, I just break out the drop outs after I'm done cutting. I don't think it takes any longer than normal once you figure out the size of tabs that work best.

    No, I guess I should check that out. I have been setting the cutting order/path to make sure I don't get tip-up interference, but it does complicate the G-code and make the cut time longer. Since I am hobby only, time is no problem.

    You have been doing this long enough !

    I am curious just what have you not seen already.

    My friend Had a Cool setup about 25 years ago.

    Oil tank body for 3000 gallons pedaled oil all winter.

    very easy to remove put a custom welding rig on for 8 months of the year worked the strippens

    That’s pretty awesome, especially on a 40’ container.
    How did you actually drag/move it?

    Sometimes it’s fun to see unique features of smart guys trucks. I could build out a flatbed and start work next week. Still fun to see cool ideas in the meantime :)

    @Kwikvette

    Got a question for you: in your weld schooling, did they mention the a risk of high frequency start TIG damaging nearby electronics? I know a little about this, but thought it was probably only from older TIG welders. Do you know if newer IGBT units still pose that risk?

    I saw on Langmuir's website that they are still advising that the height control board on their CNC controllers can be damaged by HF TIG unless at least 16' separation is maintained. EVEN if the unit is turned off and unplugged they are saying damage can occur.

    Rather err on the safe side.

    Turned off unplugged that would be like saying I have the water shut off at the hot water tank yet the hot water still leaks in the bathroom . There needs to be a physical connection unless things have really changed in the last 2 years.

    If the High Frequency is not producing output no problems either the old style with the points or solid state. AC with the continuous is the worst

    Then I have been told Yes the power is shut off to that machine My Meter says otherwise.

    From what I have seen it is in places that have everything tied into a building ground.

    Then they say we need to have the building ground then yourgoing to have problems

    The tig welders in one shop would forever take out the positioners .

    In one school the High frequency took out the new style 120VAC inverters in the auto body shop it made them do all kinds of strange things

    I had to figure these problems out I saw it happen in real time.

    What ^^^ he ^^^ said. It is getting better and better all the time from both ends, but certainly is not something of the past.

    As technology advances, the HF throws out less intense interference and shielding advances as well. Better tech in receiving instruments also deals with the HF interference better than older technology.

    All manufacturers still recommend guarding sensitive electrics from HF, and properly grounding all equipment whether producing or receiving that interference.

    The smallest of my two labs has 19 ac welders and various electronics from 120v up to 480v and various circuit boards in a footprint of about 1500 sqft. We have very few issues ... but we arent without them and some are almost certainly related to the HF.

    Just to kinda throw in my 2 cents… if I TIG weld aluminum (high freq obviously)in the garage, anywhere under the garage door motor, I have to reset my garage door opener so it works. I try to weld away from it now as much as I can. That’s the only thing I’ve seen it affect

    Not late but big thanks to @koditten for the plasma cutting. Not only did he take my super simple drawing and make it into....fusion3d? But part turned out just fine for me. And prices were also great! So if you have a project needing plasma cutting and it doesn't need super tight tolerances (or discuss with him) then I highly recommend him.

    Parts he cut fit great and the slots work great for the tolerances from the manufacturer.

    Was a great leaning expert for him and I both

    Me too. It can also fry "touch" light switches in the vicinity. Pointing my HF ham radio yagi antennas over my garage using 1.5kw also makes the garage door go up and down.
