It’s an old thread I know, but my 35s itch is back. Did you fit the 35x10.5 swampers? If so, how much work was it?

No, I decided to dial things back on tire size. The single tire I purchased sits unused.

Had 285/75/16s on Pro Rims before I swapped to a 285/75/17 setup. Was a nice setup, just inside of the fender flares, very streetable. Didn't get caught in the groves in the road and get pulled around. Drove like a stock truck.

mickey thompson are making a sweet 35x10 now..... i've had the swamper ssr's in the past, they were pretty good on the road based on my experiences way back then. def a mud tire but the siping made them work better in wet conditions than avg mud tires

Just as with any skinny tire, they will require less work to fit up... tread width is only 9" on the one I have. There was a TRD Pro 4-runner that had these mounted on the stock wheel... might be similar enough to give you an idea, but you'll have to find the forum/thread.

Ya the easier fit is the reason I’m interested. I have skinny 33s currently and they required nothing more than an alignment. I haven’t found much detailed info about fitting skinny 35s. People tend to just post pictures of their truck with the tires mounted, but I don’t really care what they look like.

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)

Look up the thread titled "fitting 35s" or something like it.

I'd be more worried about the weight of each 34" or 35' tire. I could see your lower ball joints or cv joints wearing prematurely, but I'm no expert.

That thread is mostly about fitting 12.5’s not 10.5’s. 10.5’s should in theory be easier to fit than 12.5’s, but there are fewer tire options and fewer people trying to fit them.

    12.5s are harder to fit.

Heres how you figure this out.

Mount the tire on a wheel. Take the shock out from the front, mount the tire to the truck, and cycle the tire up and down to see what you hit.

Turn the wheel to see where you rub at compression.

Then cut and hammer all that shit.

    I've had 315 75 16s on for 80k miles now, out of 122k.

I've had zero issues with CVs being worn due to tire size, or lower ball joints. I have had issues with upper ball joints (replaced at 50k, which is normal for JBA) and tie rods. I get an alignment every 7-10k, and I run no sway bar.

Oh, brakes get replaced every 40-50k.

This is just me though, sample size of one.

Thanks for the info. I re-opened this thread to ask jowett if he had fit his tall skinny 35 super swampers, because that is the same tire I have had in the back of my head for quite a while (mainly because it is the only skinny 35” mud terrain that fits on a 16” wheel). My interest was reinvigorated recently and I went on a search to see if there was any new info.
