@Kilo Charlie @Jtcmedic have yawl or anybody else in the first responder area seen one of these Lucas CPR machines? I've never seen or heard of one until last night. When the F.D. got there one of the guys told the other one to get the Lucas and they were setting it up when we left.

Speaking of turkeys, I saw where they say there is a shortage this year so you better buy it now. We got one Sunday and stuck it in the freezer. Aldi had a freezer full but I bet they go fast!!!!

We reserved a fresh one at a local meat market. Hopefully it'll come in ok. I remember there was a supposed shortage last year. Supplies were limited at first, but damn they all came in and they couldn't give them away at the particular grocery store

not surprised something like this was made, kind of surprised there is not an air pump on it that goes to a CPR breathing mask

That's a horrible idea. What time?
I was an assistant manager at Wally World and the manager encouraged us to dress up for Halloween. I grabbed a hard hat, reflective vest, and three small traffic cones I put on a board and pulled around the store for an hours or two. She said "I hope you plan on doing more work than those guys do." I smiled and waved her around the "lane closure".

Yes.. we've had them for several years.. Let me tell you.. they are incredibly helpful and unlike a person.. they don't quit.. they can stay on going up or down stairs .. they do not get tired.. they keep the same rhythm, you can have a person on a back board and turn them upside down and the LUCAS will still keep going. They are allowed in the helicopters too so if you transfer pt. care to a flight crew they can take the LUCAS in the aircraft.. though you have to go get it afterwards! LOL

Also.. they are battery powered but once in the back of the ambulance or the ER you can switch to power and they will run on and on and on.

They do know the difference between year old and a 50 year old as far as depth of compressions etc.. plus the black straps near the top of the machine secure the patient's hands so they aren't flopping around etc.

intubating someone and putting them on a vent is a totally different thing.. the vent does do the work but doing rescue breathes and intubating a patient and using a bag valve mask is pretty effective.. The more important part is keeping the blood going around and around.. does no good to fill a patient full of air if the oxygenated blood doesn't get to the brain.

Recently 911 centers stopped telling people to do rescue breaths over the phone and do compressions only.

and if anyone doesn't know how to do CPR.. you should learn.

I'm cheep and lazy, just used 75 cents worth of peroxide we already had. :anonymous:

Good write up in the other thread. I spend quite a bit of time cleaning material off before I put it in the pot, probably too much time.

I'd love to be able to say that I'm going to deep fry or smoke the turkey but given the likelihood of the weather being complete crap that day, I'd still probably end up having to put it in the oven.

You can spatchcock a turkey and put it in the oven and it'll be way awesomer than a balled up turkey

We've been just having a breast the last few years since it's just the 4 of us (and 1 isn't eating meat) and we don't need that many leftovers.

We also have ham because ham is delicious.

Ham should be the meat of America, and share the podium with bacon :oldglory::dancingbacon:

    Poll Response:

Smoked as I received a Kamado Big Joe III for Father's Day. Ive actually not used it for smoking as I like the taste of the wood, and it's mild enough the family will eat it. I will try adding one small piece of smoking wood into the mix this time. I generally use pecan for smoking pork. Any suggestions for the bird?
