Same here. Mine was from Taco Vinyl and also came with the garnish (pre-installed) in addition to having a front facing camera bracket. No issues at all with the TSS or camera from the get-go, and I am not very mechanically inclined. If I can do it anyone can. They had a great install video which really helped.

Well resetting the ECU didn’t do it. Toyota is on their way to tow it back to the dealership. Never thought a grille swap would result in this haha

The grille I got was from Tacoma Lifestyle garnish pre-installed. They have hundreds of reviews on their site with zero issues, so I thought I was getting a quality product. Maybe this is some weird coincidence and it doesn’t have anything to do with the grille swap, but I highly doubt it. The truck is brand new and was running perfect. Swapped the grille, turned her on, and now this.

Yea it’s gotta be something that was moved or touched in the process. Hopefully it’s covered under warranty and they don’t try to blame you for it. As long as you put everything back and left no sign of tamper, you should be good. Keep us updated.

I had a precollision warning issue when I did the pro grille swap on my 2018, it was a no name grille and garnish. Sold it and decided to go all oem on my 2021 and had zero issues.

They will prob try to get you to buy the Toyota oem pro grille...Mind you if you don't have a pro vin they won't sell it to you...Its a fucked system. Toyota wanted 1100cdn for the grille and garnish a bird hit mine and after they ordered the wrong parts 3 times I bought the Amazon one and they put it in for me...Hope the amazon police don't kick my door in hahaahhaha

turns out some mice chewed through a wiring harness. nothing to do with the PCS. dealership is charging 1,200 (rodent damage isn't covered under toyota's warranty) but luckily my auto insurance will without affecting my monthly premium. so the grille swap wasn't even an issue at all

Ouch! At least nothing from your pocket. That seems excessive. At my old GM dealer we would charge about 3-6 hours labor depending on damage. This seems like they are charging at least 10 hours. I find it hard to believe it’s that big of rodent chewing.

To add to my last comment, this happens a lot during weather change, they look for warmth. Do you leave your truck outside?

That's what I said... $1,200 to replace a wiring harness?! Apparently they have to take apart the intake manifold to get to it. I'm going to coat the undercarriage and engine bay with rodent repellent spray! I told them I want pics of the chewed up harness and the footprints they said they saw. And yes, she lives outside. We do get a lot of mice around here. I just saw one a few nights ago.

Ah that makes more sense now. On the GM trucks they always chew up and nest under the fuse block. Not too involved to remove. On the tacomas they must go under the intake. That sucks but at least they’ll fix it. Post up the grille swap after lol

What a story! Glad you got it sorted and too bad about the mice.

I bought my Vintage Grill w/Garnish uninstalled from EmpyreOffRoad...and Smoked Raptor Lights separately (from a member here).

Installed it in August and have not had any issues in the past 2 months.

Hopefully, those on the fence about the Grill aren't too turned off by this situation.

I recently upgraded to the Pro Style Grille and since doing so, I am having the TSS issues. The light that indicates that the PCS system is off illuminates and when I attempt to set the cruise control I get the warning beeps/amber triangle. I purchased the grill on Amazon from a link I found somewhere on here. Seems like a nice grille and the TSS garnish was included, so I am sure it is not OEM. Here is the link to the page with the grille I purchased
    https://www.amazon.com/ANGUMI-Replacement-Grille-TSS-Cover/dp/B09WJY9DPV?ie=UTF8&th=1

It seems from what I've been reading on TW, some of you have had no issues after installing one of these grilles where others have. Some have had problems using the aftermarket TSS Garnish where others have not. So I'm trying to figure out what might be different on those trucks that have installed the grill and had no problems and those that have had issues.

I've tried the washer under the screw tab trick with a .75mm washer, then a 1.5mm washer then no washer at all. No luck.

I have also read that the system will relearn (basically self calibrate) after installing the grille and eventually the problem will correct itself. I have some doubt about that myself, however was wondering if any of you can confirm that the system does, in fact relearn itself, and if so, about how long it normally takes to do so.

Lastly, I wanted to ask if any of you who have had success in installing one of these grille (no problems at all) would be willing to take a close up pic of how your TSS garnish sits in the grill so I can compare it to how mine sits. Mine seems to be recessed into the grill a little more at the top and sits almost flush with the grille at the bottom. This leads me to think the garnish is not sitting correctly.

Also any other suggestions would be appreciated before I say F it and put the old grille back in.

    TIA

One of the things you might consider as the problem is the garnish. Aftermarket garnishes can be hit or miss....some work fine, some are problematic. The one I got from Taco Vinyl was shipped installed with the grille and worked perfectly from the get-go. No washer, no re-learning, no codes. Don't know about the ones from Amazon. Best thing to do is to search and find a source for garnishes that people have found reliable. You could also hedge your bet and get an OEM garnish, but prepare to bend over at the dealership parts counter when they invoice you.
